Dickey Novak here for Young Hollywood on the set of CBS's Vegas. We're here to chat with the cast and find out if what happens on the set in Vegas stays in Vegas. Everything on black. Did you meet the real life, was it the real life person that your character is based on? I heard a blue cheese dry ice story. I would love to hear that story.
There there's my my character to be clear, is a bit of an amalgam of a number of different people. But I did meet a guy.
Cuz you don't want to name names, right?
I met a guy and he was really interesting. It's some interesting things to say. I mentioned that I did enjoy the blue cheese on my salad and there was in fact, a industrial-sized wheel of blue cheese in my uh, hotel room an hour later, on dry ice.
On dry ice. Yeah. So I just heard a great story. I guess you became friendly with Bill Clinton.
Yes. Spent a weekend in the White House with them.
You did. And you played a little golf, you ended up on a golf cart?
Yeah. With him driving. Eating Subway sandwiches.
What was it?
Well, we first we took the uh, Presidential motorcade to a golf course.
Okay, that's always good. This is And you don't stop. And that's where the Subway sandwiches happened in the back. Okay, I'm so Okay, what do you get on your sandwich and what does Bill get on his sandwich?
You get like, you know, everything, you get a little turkey, a little provolone cheese and Lots of mayonnaise and uh.
That's yours?
Yeah.
And and what about Bill? What about President Bill Clinton?
We had the same.
You so you have the same taste in sandwiches.
Well, that was just what we were given. So whatever, whatever he's having, you're having.
Yeah.
Yeah, and he'll eat anything and so will I.
Because men fight on this show, like the old-fashion way, the way men used to duke it out set back in the '60s. There were real punches being thrown.
No.
Yeah, that's right. Nobody gets hurt.
No.
No. There were no cameras.
Yeah, everybody shook hands afterwards.
No cameras. So, do you have any tips or do you have a little demonstration?
Well, there's the there's the front on one. So, um, so I would choose like a box either side of your head. That that side or that side.
Okay.
It's all about selling the punch. So you have to knock your head back like this.
So I have to go with this. Yeah. Okay. So, this is a pretty good angle for that. So you ready?
I'm ready.
Go. How that look? I'm afraid of being hit. That's what it is. So this show has so many great one-liners. I'm sure that's sort of what attracted you to this role because you can pretty much do anything. My favorite line is go hug a cactus. Do you have a favorite line from this show so far?
Mine's you bet. It's all in the delivery, though. Because uh, it answers everything. Great weather? You bet.
Can I give you a line? Got a dollar?
You bet.
Can I give you something and then you'll say it back?
No.
Go ahead. I like your hat.
You bet.
So I wanted to ask you, um, we normally ask people if they could have any guest star on the show, who would it be? But in your case, I'm going to revise it a little bit. Okay. If you could have any of the New England Patriots guest on this show, who would it be?
Tom. I love you. I I do have the biggest man crush on Tom Brady. And he's my friend. I've been.
You're kidding.
Yeah, we've be we've just recently got to know each other. Uh, we did a charity.
You play golf with him?
Well, uh, we did a charity event together and we had a blast. It was fantastic. And uh, I text him at the end of every game now.
So we have some random questions for you.
Oh gosh, random.
First of all, what was your first job before you became an actor?
Uh, before I became an actor, my first job? I was a waiter at the Steak and Ale. wore a big puffy shirt and um carried a meat cleaver menu. Second guest: My first job. A Warner Brothers Christmas movie called Jack Frost and that was when I was 13. And now I'm 28, so.
And what did you do in the movie? Second guest: I was the snowboard bully. I had my hair and liberty spikes and I was giving the the main kid a hard time throughout. And then I turned good at the end, of course.
Of course. Because you have to when you Christmas movies. Second guest: Yes, you do. Yeah. Third guest: I sold uh T-shirts in Ghirardelli Square once in San Francisco. And I was sales person of the month.
Can you try to sell me something? Third guest: Uh well the key is, if you want to be a good salesman in a T-shirt shop, is not selling the T-shirts. It's selling the socks at the cash register.
Oh, you get a bonus for that? Third guest: So Yeah. So, you get them up at the top and and I'll I'll ring you up. And then you look at them, you look into their eyes and you're trying to suss them out like this and you go, you're a sock person, aren't you? Fourth guest: I played the court jester at the Medieval Manor in in Boston, Massachusetts. Yes, I did. And yes, I wore tights. Third guest: I can tell you're a sock person. Check these babies out and you bring them out from under the counter. So it's like a secret stash. Fourth guest: It's like, yeah, it's a secret stash. Third guest: Only you can buy these $25 socks. Hand embroidered with the Golden Gate on the side of it.
I'll take five. Third guest: Exactly.
Were you a good waiter? Fourth guest: Not really. I earned enough money to come out here. Then I was a clown at an amusement park at Astro World.
How did that go? Well you have the smile for it. You if you're a happy clown. Fourth guest: Not really I kids hate clowns.
You are playing in a high-stakes poker game and you are holding a straight flush. Let's see your best poker face. Um, I don't know, is this a good hand? What you got there? Got a good hand? I think you got a good hand. Got some good cards?
I'm folding.
I'm going to raise you.
Insta call.
Wow, that was fantastic. Boom.
I'm just saying. I'm folding. That's pretty good, right? That's pretty good. It's just lizard, death. How's that?
I was just going to let you keep going as long as you wanted. I wasn't going to stop you. Okay, when you are in Vegas, what is your favorite thing to do? Chill by the pool, take in a show, hit the casino, or other?
Other.
Oh. I mean, it's not
Dirty minds all around.
Okay, this is not spa day. Nice.
Spa day. It depends whether my family's with me or not. Okay. I, uh, I suppose, um, somewhere in between, uh, Cirque du Soleil and other. And sometimes there are a lot of sequins. And sometimes
But not you.
Not me. No.
Hmm. Second guest: I'm gonna take the safe answer here. I'm gonna say hit the casinos. Third guest: You bet. Fourth guest: I you know what, honestly? Uh, I love I love seeing the shows.
Can we before we go, can we point out? I wanted to bring up your Twitter. Yeah. And the tweet you you tweeted to your daughter. Yeah. I would love to hear that story.
Well, of course, my daughter goes to USC now. And we're watching the game, sort of miserable, and they do a shot they show a shot of the crowd, the USC crowd. And I didn't even notice, I was I was paying attention. My wife was like, "Autumn!" And there, sure enough, is my daughter in the middle of the screen in this crowd of kids. I can't believe she saw her. But then we, you know, we put it on pause, and I took a screenshot and I sent it out. And I wanted to say something funny, something to make her laugh, so I said, it was raining out, so I said, "Where's your jacket? And who are those boys sitting next to you?" Because she was flanked by two kinda studly USC dudes.
Kinda good looking guys, yeah. And how did she react to it? Did she get embarrassed?
No, she she's used to me.
Then you took her to the Breaking Dawn 2 premiere, so there you go. She made up for it.
I did. Her and my 13-year-old.
Yeah. That's that's a cool dad.
What do you think you're doing? Get out of here.
