Hey guys, Nikki Novak here for Young Hollywood on the set of Sullivan & Son on TBS. We're going to take you on a little tour of the set. We're going to interview the cast. They're four stand-up comedians. This is going to be pretty funny. I'm here with Steve Byrne. We are at the bar, known as Sullivan & Son on TBS. I hear that you are called the mayor of the studio around here because you give fans that are on a tour tours of the set. Is that true?

I wouldn't say mayor. More like uh junior senator or something something very nondescript. I'm I'm in charge of the water and power, I think, of the township. Yeah, nothing like that. But yeah, I mean, anybody that's on these Warner Brothers tours if I see them, especially if I see a little kid on there, you know, I remember what it's like to be that young and you want to see what it's like behind closed doors. Yeah, if we have some free time, we'll show them around.

And we get a real celebrity coming out and like snagging, this is what people dream about when they like grow up in a small town, having somebody from a big show snag them and pull them in and give them a personal private tour.

Yeah, but half the time they don't know who I am.

You guys have been on tour together in addition to shooting the show.

We do tour together. Yeah. Uh, stand-up comedians. Yeah, we're stand-up comedians. Uh, we tour together, we travel across the country, is not as much fun going from airport to airport with a guy named Ahmed Ahmed as you would think.

Oh yeah, Roy doesn't check a bag. Does he check a bag?

You guys can actually travel for how long without checking a bag?

We don't check bags.

Okay. Okay. And and Roy always has this giant bag. What do you got in there, Roy?

Oh, you have no idea. Clean drawers.

You did create, a lot of the show is based on your life.

Yes, yes. Uh, Pittsburgh boy. I basically wrote in the fact that the bar owner, Steve Sullivan, is Korean and Irish. So that I had to shoehorn my way into my own project, so it was they had to cast me in it. And it worked. I'm here.

Good, smart move.

Exactly, yeah.

Excellent move. And look how successful the show is.

Yeah, we're in our third season and uh, nobody's more shocked than I am because uh, you just never know with these things, but people have been tuning in and we're just underrated success is what we keep being touted as, so I'll take it.

Um, I know that you played a corporate lawyer, you turned into bar owner. Yes. In life, I'm going to go down the line, would would each of you, in real life if you were an actors, make a better corporate lawyer or better bar keeper? Who wants to start with the real pain? What?

Um, barkeep. I mean, that's easy. It's conversational and there's drinking involved.

Okay. I see lawyers, they just seem all stressed. They make a lot of money though. But what's that worth if you don't have any sanity.

A lot of drawers.

A lot of drawers. It's drawers. It's pronounced drawers, not drolers. I'm sorry. I apologize. Drawers. Like the verb, but to draw, drawers.

Yeah, but it's also a noun. The only thing you need to know, the only time black people pronounce the 'er' at the end of the word is when they say, officer.

So can you take us on a little tour?

Sure. This is the set and as you know, uh, I grew up in Pittsburgh, so we base a lot of this, uh, you know, we try to pay little homages to Pittsburgh. There's the actual two newspapers, the Trib and the Post-Gazette. 250 drafts. Uh, I don't think that'll exist anywhere in this country other than

Yeah, a hangout in that bar.

Than a bar in Hollywood. Um, this up here, 7898 is uh, our old line producer Kent, uh, when we were standing here, we were going through and figuring out the set. He said, what should we name the address? And I said, uh, we have a son. What's his birthday? And so that's his birthday. So we put that up there for him. This is the set. This is the entrance. This is pretty much the area where every now and then we'll use it as an outdoor side. You you have to have a private conversation. Really what it's used for is everybody's out here memorizing their lines last minute before they run in. Oh, yeah.

Did you guys ever, because this is a show based on a bar, did you ever have fake IDs growing up?

Yes.

Oh, yeah. I used to make 'em.

Did you? You were the guy that sold 'em?

I used to make them.

You were the person I called in high school?

I was that guy. Okay. Right out of my garage.

I, uh, I actually worked at a bar when I was 16 as a bouncer. Yeah. So my town was, you know, Waukegan, Illinois. It's a very corrupt area. Yeah.

By the way, a lot of Middle Easterners make up their own IDs. just putting it out there.

I'm actually Mexican. This is a marketing scheme.

That's right. He became he became Mexican on September 12th.

Oh, yeah, yeah. This is the bar. As you can see, it's actually another bar right now. We have an episode where Billy Gardell from Mike & Molly buys a bar across the street and basically takes the floor plan of my bar and converts it into his own bar. So we're in transition right now before the tape date tomorrow to turn our bar back into the Sullivan & Son bar. But as you can see, it's

I never had a fake ID in college. We used to pay homeless people to buy our liquor for us and we sent our homeless guy into the store once with 20 bucks to get, like, I don't know, some Alize. Whatever liquor was popular in '97 and they didn't have it and he came back out with like a fifth of gin and he just goes, "This is what I drink. You want to be a champion, drink this." He's like, "You know how you guys want to have a good time? How about you ruin your lives?"

I stand behind this bar all the time. Oh, you do. Um, it's O'Doul's that comes out of there. The vodka is water and the other stuff is iced tea.

I'm leaving.

Yeah. Oh yeah. Yeah, it's not that kind of bar.

For all I came here.

Yeah. Sorry about that. But yeah, sometimes after after the after a long tape day, we actually will turn this into a bar just for a pop or two and have some fun after the audience leaves. But uh, it is a functioning bar. It is a working bar. The jukebox works.

I would do that.

Yeah. Its taps work. Right. Um, sometimes the humor works.

I think you're doing okay.

Yeah. Season three Sullivan & Son, it is absolutely by far our best season yet. The jokes are funnier, the characters are more developed. We have a blast doing it. It's been the most fun we've ever had.

Yeah. If you like action, heat, sex, girls, heels, guns, drama, violence, we have none of that. None. Absolutely none of it. Zero. But we are a fun bar sitcom. Yes. We have jokes and racial diversity.
