Young Hollywood

Hey guys, Audrey here for Young Hollywood on the set of NBC's Heartbeat, and if there were a set for me to get an injury on, this would be it. Because there are some very handsome doctors in the house.

Young Hollywood

Well, thanks for sitting down with me in the lobby of St. Matthew. We've had a surgery on our feet all day, so we needed to sit.

Young Hollywood

Oh my god, I just got nervous. Oh my god, I just got nervous. My heart is beating because I don't think I've ever been in a more handsome sandwich right here. Whoa! Dave and Don, that's a cute foot to hop on.

Guest

We're just hanging out in the lobby of St. Matthews, I guess, right? Second guest: Yeah, this is, this is the nurses' station actually.

Young Hollywood

Oh, okay. Well, congratulations on the show.

Guest

Thank you very much.

Young Hollywood

What, what makes this show different from all the other medical dramas? I put that in quotes, by the way, dramas out there.

Guest

It's a character-driven medical drama. It's not procedural. We're not just, you know, showing the operation. You're following these people. Second guest: Should we, should we take a little tour around the set?

Young Hollywood

Can we? Second guest: Yeah. So this is the nurses' station. Okay. Uh, where the nurses live mostly when they're not performing surgery. This is Maya's domain. This is where

Guest

This is my area, when Jamie crosses it, we have a problem. Second guest: This is where I creep on you.

Guest

You agree? Second guest: He does. Yes.

Young Hollywood

Well, somehow you guys make surgery look really fun.

Guest

It is fun to actually use real tools and we're taught how to hold them, how to smack 'em in the doctor's hand. Second guest: Yeah. Really good at that.

Guest

You can't give it dainty, you can't be like, Second guest: Yeah, you gotta, here, put out your hand, I'll show you.

Guest

Yeah, you gotta hit it hard and let them know that, yeah, it's a big deal.

Young Hollywood

At this point, do you kind of feel like real surgeons?

Guest

We have the tools, but I don't know if we have the tools per se. We, uh, we're so lucky, though. We have a, uh, Dr. Kathy Magliato, you know, who the show's based off of, literally here during the OR scenes and and showing us what to do and telling us what, so we have that authenticity, which is nice. Now, all our stories are real. And then like we have these, so it's pretty cool medically, cuz it's like, oh my god. And then like, we have all these weird love stories like, Vanessa's got like three lovers and I wish I could say that I've been in the OR so much that I now feel like I could perform surgery, but that's not true. I'm kind of, even though my character is a functioning doctor, I'm more of an administrator.

Young Hollywood

Oh.

Guest

Yeah. I'm the boss of the hospital. So I kind of have a fancy office and I tell people off. And I do a lot of stomping around in high heels and scowling but yeah. Maybe a few seasons, I'll be able to operate. I could assist right now, that's for sure. Second guest: Assist. Oh, yeah. Every morning we get the terminology, like, you know, the words that we're saying, what it means, how to say it, how it helps the body.

Young Hollywood

What's the, what's the hardest one for you?

Guest

Oh my gosh, we have so, You know, word-wise, Aortic Coarctation. Hepatic abscess. But I'm a hypochondriac, so this show's really not good for my mind because I start to worry that I have all the diseases. Gastrectomy. I haven't had to say that. Jamie had to say that. But we had fun watching him try to say it.

Young Hollywood

What about you, Freddie? Second guest: Yeah, it's not the easiest thing, pharmacogenomics.

Guest

Yeah. Oh, I look, I just pulled that out too. I was like,

Young Hollywood

So I want to do a little game called Fast Favorites.

Guest

Fast Favorites. Second guest: Okay.

Young Hollywood

So what's your favorite food from craft services right now?

Guest

Uh, I like the almond butter.

Young Hollywood

What about when you want to be bad?

Guest

When I want to be bad? Pirate's Booty.

Young Hollywood

Yeah. Not even that bad.

Guest

Well, Maya likes just about everything. Let's get that out of the way. Second guest: Oh wow. Spicy Cheetos.

Guest

He only has coffee. Second guest: I drink coffee all the time. She says I have an issue. We won't bring it up. We won't. But yeah, I like to drink coffee and I don't want to eat more than 100 calories a day.

Guest

Oh, the bananas. Oh my god, such an actor thing. Second guest: Anything chocolate.

Young Hollywood

Nice. I like that. I like that it wasn't like green juice.

Guest

I like, I like kale. They're nice salads. Avocado. That's healthy. Yeah. But I have to have loads of some sort of hot sauce with it.

Young Hollywood

Avocado and hot sauce. Okay. On a bagel.

Guest

Memories. Like the corner of my mind. Second guest: This is so cool. Like, I couldn't believe that this is actually not even really out yet. This is a super new tool. So watch this. Vein finder. You see that? Yeah. Now, if you notice, mine doesn't really have any veins, which is weird. She looks at me. Let me do yours.

Guest

Do it on mine.

Young Hollywood

Uh, what's your favorite workout?

Guest

Workout? Just love and life. If you're in love, I think you keep fit.

Young Hollywood

Can I can I if I just practice that, if I do that workout, can I just look like this?

Guest

Positivity keeps me fit. Second guest: I don't know, do we like working out? I don't know. I don't. But I like dancing.

Guest

Yeah, I like dancing. Second guest: Me too. Cuz then it doesn't feel like a workout. So I'll do like a a dance class, Zumba or something. She takes hip-hop class. I'm gonna start doing that again, cuz it's good.

Young Hollywood

Nice. Yeah, it's smart. She does. When was the last time you took a hip-hop class?

Guest

Uh, like 80s. Second guest: There it is. Yes. That's right. Just.

Guest

My name is watching Don do chest. Yeah. Yoga. Yeah. I don't, I don't really work out. I walk. Second guest: Ah. There's this behind it. Okay. And then you squeeze. This is really cool, right? As you press down.

Young Hollywood

Are you in the dating world? In the dating world? Like on the are you dating if you were single, it'd be great just go up to a guy and be like,

Guest

If you want to get rid of a guy, just be like,

Young Hollywood

Dating tips by Jamie Kennedy, everybody. If you want to get rid of somebody, I have

Young Hollywood

Do you have a favorite selfie face?

Guest

I don't do them.

Young Hollywood

You don't?

Guest

No. I do elevator selfies.

Young Hollywood

Oh my gosh. Because it Explain this. What's the What's the Yeah, please explain this to me.

Guest

So In Paris, I love like the old elevators and sometimes when I get in there there's just a mirror and I'll just snap my outfit for the day in an elevator selfie.

Young Hollywood

Okay. So it's a little more chic. What's a selfie? So Second guest: Oh, Dave, do you care, you care to, please explain to the Australian.

Guest

Um, he knows. It's usually a silly face.

Young Hollywood

Are we gonna do one? Let's do it. Together? Promise me you're gonna do silly?

Guest

I'll do silly. I'll do silly.

Young Hollywood

Everything on the show is really, haven't you say you've learned a lot?

Guest

I've learned so much. Yes. I've learned more on this show than I did in school about medical medical stuff. I'm serious. That's true.

Young Hollywood

I don't know about you guys, but I learned a lot today. Like, for example, surgery can be pretty hilarious.
