Young Hollywood

What's up, guys? Nicki Novak here for Young Hollywood on the set of Rules of Engagement. We're gonna chat with some of the cast. There's a shoot going on in progress right now. Yes, we're gonna use our library voices.

Guest

We are.

Young Hollywood

Well, it's a little like you said, it's a little sexier to talk this way. I think so. You look so much more comfortable than me.

Guest

I am.

Young Hollywood

So your hundredth episode is coming up.

Guest

Yes.

Young Hollywood

What do you know now? What what do you know now that you didn't know then?

Guest

Oh my gosh, so much. I feel like we we were laughing the other day talking about how much we've all been through since a hundred episodes ago. I mean, kids have been born, marriages have begun, marriages have ended.

Young Hollywood

Yeah. Are we talking off-camera or on or both?

Guest

Both. Well, both.

Young Hollywood

Okay.

Guest

Both, actually.

Young Hollywood

That's exciting. Is there anything about any of your cast members that you know now that you wish you didn't know?

Guest

Oh God, so much. I can't please. Most of it's about Oliver. Which confuses me. All of my girlfriends are like, he's so hot. And I'm like, okay. I'm not telling you what I know. But I cannot think of him like that. I now know that David Spade has actually gotten to a point where he believes I'm his assistant in real life.

Young Hollywood

Okay. Okay. So he calls you.

Guest

Yes. It it happens with a shocking amount of frequency. He will ask me to go and pick up lunch for him. He will um during rehearsal say, oh um what's that meeting I've got later on today. David, we're in the scene. We're acting. I don't actually have command of your your day-to-day calendar.

Young Hollywood

There's so many scenes take place in that diner. Your go-to diner food, what's the go-to meal?

Guest

Uh definitely bacon. Yeah. Uh and waffles.

Young Hollywood

Oh good good combo. Yeah. What is your go-to diner food? Like what if you're going to a diner?

Guest

Oh, grilled cheese. Okay. Without question.

Young Hollywood

I didn't even hesitate.

Guest

You didn't. Soy bacon and real eggs. Turkey bacon. I need Splenda for my coffee. Okay. And I need half and half.

Young Hollywood

Oh, always pancakes, always.

Guest

Yeah, because I don't really pancakes in my normal life usually. I'm usually, you know, very, very, very healthy. So I think, well, it's my job. I have to eat pancakes. What can I do?

Young Hollywood

A diner's always licensed for that, isn't it? You just eat badly.

Guest

It's totally licensed. I'm so happy it's a diner. Because if you try to eat healthy at a diner, let's face it. It's gonna be awful.

Young Hollywood

Oh yeah, have salad at a diner. It's always iceberg and like old dry carrots and it's gross.

Guest

And it and it's brown. It's brown.

Young Hollywood

So we have like a we have a little game for you. It's a little a little games. Rules game. Rules in relationships. Oh. Your thoughts on do's and don'ts. Okay. Whether it's like a single thing or a couple's thing. Are you ready?

Guest

Yeah, I'm ready.

Young Hollywood

Is it okay to date a friend's ex?

Guest

Hell no. Never. Next question.

Young Hollywood

Oh, see that's a big depends. Okay. Depends how much of an ex, depends how much they were together. How good a friend?

Guest

How well, yeah. I don't know. Yeah. Yes.

Young Hollywood

Okay. That was pretty quick. How come? Now you have to expand on that one.

Guest

Oh because there's always there's determining factors in that. Yes. You know. It's not like the day after kind of thing. Like we just broke off a seven-year relationship and you're moving in. Exactly. And when you're falling in love, if it's real love and it's actually happening, how do you did how who are you to deny that? It is okay if there has been a lot of time between the relationship and if your friend did the dumping.

Young Hollywood

Oh, that's a good one. Yeah. But if the ex did the

Guest

I think at least 48 hours.

Young Hollywood

At least 48 hours. As a courtesy.

Guest

No, at least 18 months. I had a girlfriend in high school, three years, love of my life. We broke up and my one of my really good friends, you know, started dating her. And now they're married with two kids. And I'm I'm great friends with them. So it sort of happened. It's a happily ever after.

Young Hollywood

Yeah. We always hear about pickup lines. Best breakup line.

Guest

Oh, I always think of the Steve Martin one that I break with you. I break with you. I throw dog poop on your shoe. Do you remember that one?

Young Hollywood

I'm hearing it for the first time, but I love it. I think I'm gonna use that one.

Guest

Oh it's good. It was for Saturday Night Live like a thousand years ago. The worst one all around is always it's not you, it's me because it's really it's really you. It's just Let's quit pretending this is a good idea.

Young Hollywood

I think anything like via Twitter is pretty much like a good breakup line I think. Okay. Breaking up via Twitter.

Guest

Yeah, just, you know, just tweet a breakup. I just don't feel like being with you anymore. And that's not even a really a line. That's just brutal honesty.

Young Hollywood

Is it okay to flirt when you're in a relationship?

Guest

Oh, absolutely. And I encourage it.

Young Hollywood

Okay. Oh really?

Guest

Yes. My uh my fiance that just happened so congratulations. Yes. Um we're we are wholehearted supporters of flirting. I think it's very healthy and and I think it's kind of fun and keeps it spicy. Yes. You should flirt. It's okay. I 100% think it's healthy to flirt. Yeah. 100%. You have to know your lines. But we're human. You know. At the end of the day, we're all sexual people. You should do it in front of the person that you're with. Decent. Spicy. So they think that. That other people think you're hot. And it's okay when it's done in the reverse when it's done to you.

Young Hollywood

No. Case you want your

Guest

Not okay. Well, if it's not, I'm in big trouble. Yes. As my sister told me, I can flirt with the tree. I don't know how not to flirt. Yeah, you just flirt. It makes you feel good about yourself. Yeah. I mean in this day and age, right? Yes. You have to be careful because I think there's a difference between flirting and dangling the carrot. Yeah. Because if you dangle the carrot, you're actually available. But if you're actually if you want to follow through, you just something.

Young Hollywood

And is it okay to text somebody to ask for a date thinking like a first date?

Guest

Well, I mean, why why not? What else are you gonna do?

Young Hollywood

Well, the phone.

Guest

Yeah, but why do that? It's also which actually real is it's hard to get your phone sometimes. Like you're in the middle of a crowded thing, whatever, and you can it's just easier.

Young Hollywood

No, that's that's horrible. If you're gonna ask ask for a date, it's gotta be in person, I would I would think. Yes.

Guest

I I think you can cast the fishing line with a text, but you gotta follow up with a with an email. That's how I got my first date with my my dude.

Young Hollywood

Who text who?

Guest

Well, actually, I'm so embarrassed to say this, but it started out on Twitter.

Young Hollywood

Was it a private message or was it public?

Guest

Well, it was public first. You have to do the private like the I follow you and then you follow me back. Yeah, I try to be all I try to be all like sly about it. Like um I said something. I said something that totally didn't make sense and I said, do you follow? Well, it works. And now we're getting married, so Thanks, Twitter.

Young Hollywood

The young is getting married because of Twitter.
