"Ground Floor" Set Tour and Office Dos & Don'ts

What's going on, internet? I'm here with Skyler Austin. How do you know? This is young Hollywood, man.

So, yes, coming back for season two, was it like your first day at school? Is it like, hi?

It was very surreal. When I got home, I did say, wow, that was really first day of school feeling. This is my office. I play uh R. Stewart Mansfield, Remington, Stewart Mansfield. Yes. And we're just sprint. The first two episodes this year were home runs. We shoot on Tuesday night live in front of the studio audience. We're back and we're better than ever.

You got the Don Draper haircut?

Yes.

You talked about that on your Twitter.

I did.

You did.

The woman that cuts my hair, Lisa. I was like, I want to look like Don Draper. for season two.

Okay, so I'm going to ask you some office do's and don't's questions. Your thoughts on making out at a holiday party. Is it an office do or don't?

No. No. No way. No way.

For the first time?

Sure. I think it depends on location. Uh don't. Do that. If there's like a balcony or something and it's dark on the balcony and you're like off to the side. You don't take a think where you work.

Okay, stealing office supplies.

I steal like waters from craft services. Oh, you know. I'm looking at what else is on your desk. I mean, that's a clear don't. Stealing supplies? Have I done it before? Yes. Sure. Just we're talking paper, stapler. A couple posted have walked off this lot with me. So, yeah.

Okay.

Yeah. I do that.

Yeah, you do it. All right. So, I think you're going to give us a set tour.

Yes, I'm going to do a set tour. This is Ground Floor. I like it. And watch how we do it in the editing world. Set tour starts now. But then they'll cut and then I'll and then it'll be me again. It's brilliant.

Oh, okay. Here we are landing on the set tour. Oh my gosh. That was quite a ride.

I told you. Editing magic. I used to have a fancy upstairs desk that I'll show you, but here's my new one. This is um This was from Paris. This is from Paris. Really good at. I'm really good at the tour. I have to segway for a second. Okay. I read your tweets. You tweeted something about doing fart noises during rap songs. Love that.

Oh my god. Have you tried it?

No, but please God, let me. Your suggestion was to listen to rap songs and insert fart noises during a rap song.

During a rap song.

Like when they take a breath. Think about it. And just do it. There's Dave, our prop guy. Say hi, Dave. We love Dave. Well, actually, you got to keep him grounded. Hey, Dave, I'm going to need a lot more stuff out of you uh this coming week, okay? Yes, sir. Yeah. Are you rolling on this? Cuz this is what Skylar's really like.

This is how I really am. This is the Sacre-Coeur. Tell us about the Sacre-Coeur.

Sacre-Coeur is um it's a building in Paris. And because you did choose Paris, I'm assuming that this was what you bought at one of the tour shops. Sure. With your lady love.

Would you have chosen Paris or China?

Oh, Paris. It's one of my favorite places.

I think I would have chosen China. I don't know what that says about me as a person.

I would have gone with Mansfield. You would have. Yes. I would have put work first, I know I would have. Well, in real life, I'm kind of actually more of a broody personality type than a than a genny. But I think I would have chosen Paris, Bill. You would have.

Okay. Okay. Yeah. Like what animal would this actually be? I'm guessing a large A large

I'm thinking monkey.

Monkey's a good call. I was going to say squirrel. That I'm thinking he's a squirrel. He's got the head of a squirrel. That's true. That squirrel's got a big brain. Real life, what ground type of ground floor job do you think you'd be good at and what sort of like a top floor job do you think you'd be good at?

Oh, that's a good question. I was a telemarketer back in the day. Do you want to pretend have to have a phone call? No, because I hated it. But I was really good at it for some reason. What they would not be. I can start there. What they would not be is anything involving electronics.

Okay. And top floor job that you'd excel at, you think?

Top floor of where? I don't know what skills I have. I feel like I would be good in in meeting scenarios. I guess I would say some sort of a studio executive. Oh, yeah. Ground floor, I'd be Brigit. I'd be in charge. And up here. I am in charge.

we were doing that. Oh, hey. Oh, hi. What's going on? We didn't realize you were there. We were just having a heart-to-heart.

Yeah, this is where the heart-to-hearts normally happen on the show for people just joining us. This is what happens here on the balcony. Yes. For people just joining us, watch our show. What's wrong with you?

Obviously, the writing on the show is fantastic, but in my opinion, you took the character and you ran with it. You took it to another level and it's very layered. How do you as an actor make that happen?

What's funny, the first thing I wanted to do with this was find his voice. So here we are in Mansfield's office. You see him here with uh Mr. Senator John Kerry right there. I was going to say former vice president, but that's not a thing. This is him with uh former governor cuz he's not the governor anymore, right? governor Schwarzenegger. I don't think so. You want to check on your iPhone? One second. This is not doctored in any way. I mean, it's just John McGinley having the arms of a Titan. I wrote a thing called the Mansfield Manifesto, which was a petty a 20-page document about who Mansfield was.

Did you really?

And I submitted it to the writers and not to be a nudge. And this is when you already had the role. Okay. And I wanted to see if the writers and I couldn't uh mesh and we did and they used it as a tool. And then this year, I wrote a second document called Things I've Learned by R. Stewart Mansfield. In character. Yes. Okay. In that sense, this has been this really organic kind of collaboration. I love this. Yes. San Francisco banker. We're going to go upstairs. Hang tight. Watch this.

I thought you were going to do something else.

We also have a lot of um words that Mansfield says in former episodes and they always end up going on the wall. Oh, this is something very tempting that's on uh Lindsay, our new character, played by Emily Heller. She has uh combos on her desk, and it's prop food and you're not you can't eat prop food. They're really old, but you can't throw combos in my face. Well, this is going to conclude our uh our tour. It is. I'm going to come on this side for you cuz we're going to do something. We're going to do something special. So, if you want to do a sign-off and then I'll give the effect.
