Behind The Scenes Set Visit Of Young Sheldon
About this video
YH goes all the way back in time -- not to the Big Bang, but to the '80s (close enough!) as we visit the set of CBS's "Big Bang Theory" spinoff, "Young Sheldon"! Pint-sized Mr Cooper himself, Iain Armitage, gives us a tour around his character's bedroom, plus we sit down for a chat with his on-screen family, including Lance Barber, Raegan Revord, Montana Jordan, and Zoe Perry, whose real-life mom plays grown-up Sheldon's mom on "BBT"!

Hi. My name is Ian Armitage and I play Young Sheldon on Young Sheldon. And this is our set.
You collect rocks in your real life, right?
I do. I have Amethyst, Raggnite, Calcite. I have Lapis Lazuli.
That's a lot of rocks.
I have Foscyte. I have so many more.
You have a lot of nicknames on set. You're Dad, you're George, you're Lancelot. I just heard Sir Lancelot. Yeah. That's That's an easy one to go to. Is that the nickname? No. The nickname of choice?
You know, a man with many names is many times loved. I believe is a proverb.
Are you having so much fun with the filming process? What Oh, yeah. Give me the 411. What's What's it been like so far? Ian, what does 411 mean? Like, what's the lowdown? So, give me Give me the scoop. Do you know what the scoop is? What is lowdown?
No.
It is kind of all 80s themed. You weren't alive in the 80s. But do you have a favorite thing about the 80s or something you've learned about the 80s that you are really excited about?
I like the weird hairdos.
Yeah. The guy with the good hair. Montana Jordan. That should be your hashtag. No, it's good hair. Guy with the good hair. I love it. And you were just eating spaghetti.
I was.
On set. Do you get to eat the food and it's good?
Amazing, absolutely.
Yum. How do I get in on that? Your mom in real life plays Adult Sheldon's mom on Big Bang Theory. True story. That Okay, so how did this come to be?
Between Jim Parsons and Chuck Lorre and Steve Molaro, they had this brilliant idea for this show. Once they had cast Ian Armitage, it it even became a possibility that I would be, you know, age appropriate to play the mom, because, you know, had he been another age, perhaps not. And then I was able to audition, uh, with our casting directors and and Chuck and Steve, and and the rest is my lucky history.
This is my special pen thing that I do cool stuff with, like make imprints of my hand. So, this is Frank, this is Finn, and this is Taylor.
Very nice. And they're sitting on, um, can I move them? Because they're sitting on your math problems. Your very They're covering up your homework. Does that mean you don't have to do it?
Let's just say it does.
But your character on the show, he doesn't really like stones that much, right? On Big Bang Theory, he mocks geologists. Uh-huh. But it's weird because like right now, it's out there but we had this thing full of stones and it was on Sheldon's side of the room. And he has this Amethyst, he has all kinds of cool things. So, it's it's so weird that he doesn't Maybe something happens to him. This is your room?
Yeah.
It's very cozy.
I know. Except my bed. It's not very comfortable.
No, it's itchy.
Oh, really? Yeah. So, you have to pretend like you're laying there and you're really comfortable, but actually you're like
Yeah.
I'm like Itch. Itch. Itch.
I also love all the stuffed animals.
Yeah, the stuffed animals are pretty cool.
Although she did say she did say the bed was itchy.
Oh, yes. Sometimes it can be very itchy.
So, you got the soft bed.
I got the soft bed.
From what I've seen so far, you and Ian you're a little bit different. Even though you're as father, you guys have different personalities, different interests. Do you do think? So far, that's what I've seen. But I think that's accurate. In real life, how are you most similar?
Oh, Ian and I are most similar in our love of the theater, musical theater.
And your dad's in Hamilton. That is so cool. Not many people can say that. If you like Hamilton, then go ask your dad and it apparently.
Yeah. There you go.
If you could bring in one actor, actress that you really love, who would you bring on to set?
I actually have two people. Okay. I have a guy that I work with on the movie, my first movie that I did, Josh Brolin. Okay. I love him. He's awesome. And also a YouTuber, Logan Paul.
Oh. We know Logan Paul. Yeah. That's so funny. So, I I was reading an article and it said, this 9-year-old is about to be the biggest star on television. What do you think about that? Oh. Let's just sweet. Um, that is really nice. Isn't that nice?
I That That's really kind that that someone would do that. If If you're watching, whoever Whoever did that, thank you so much. That is so sweet.
Well, I think they're right.
Thanks, Young Hollywood. See you later.
