What up, Young Hollywood? Ruba here with the very beautiful, Miss Kristen Bell. Hi. How are you?

Kristen Bell

I'm really well. How are you?

Young Hollywood

I'm amazing. I'm even more amazing the fact that we're like, We're coordinating with stripes. Yes. I'm all for it. Yeah, I'm really feeling your outfit right now, for real.

Kristen Bell

Thank you. That means everything.

Young Hollywood

Yeah. Real talk. Yeah. So, first and foremost, I wanna know, what was your reaction the moment you got the call? They were like, we want you to host the SAG Awards.

Kristen Bell

Sheer terror.

Young Hollywood

Really?

Kristen Bell

Yeah. But that very quickly, embarrassingly to acknowledge, very quickly made its way into flattery and I said yes. Absolutely. I was like, Me? Really? You want me to host this? Really? Little old me? But then I was like, yeah, I can do that. I can have fun. I mean, I host the Country Music Television Awards three years in a row, and I had a ton of fun going back to Nashville and doing that, and, and so I was like, yeah, I like hosting. You have a teleprompter, it's not that hard.

Young Hollywood

Gotcha. It's such a powerful movement. Can you explain on how it's going to influence this SAG Awards?

Kristen Bell

Look, everything is influencing everything right now, as it should. There are a lot of perspectives that haven't been heard, that are being heard right now. I think people need to be using their voices and I'm thrilled that everyone is because it really stinks when you feel like you can't use your voice. You feel like you're being stunted.

Young Hollywood

Absolutely.

Kristen Bell

So, the Times Up movement, we've worked very closely with at SAG, the committee that's putting on this show, to make sure that we were understanding the messaging that they felt was important and that they were sort of giving their blessing to the show because it was decided mutually that, you know, no one would wear all the same color, like they wouldn't be wearing black, but that was done. That message of solidarity happened, and everyone will dress uniquely in fashion however they want.

Young Hollywood

Right. Yeah. I'm all for it.

Kristen Bell

But we, um, we also decided that maybe it was the time to give a message of like, unity, positivity, and, and really, really nailing the support system because, okay, so we found out what the problem was. People started speaking up. Now where do we go? Like, I hope that this influences a little bit more of now, where do we go? Like, SAG just yesterday came out with the fact that they're redoing their code of conduct for actors on set, and that they were reiterating, they have always had a hotline set up, but not everybody knows about that. So, that's a problem. We need to make sure everyone knows that if they call that hotline, they will be connected with a trained professional that is ready to intervene, however forcibly on their behalf.

Young Hollywood

Right. Yeah. That stuff is important.

Kristen Bell

So important. It's crucial. And I tend to lead with a lot of bubbles and joy and sort of glitter. So, I feel like I'm just gonna throw that at everyone's face and see how it lands.

Young Hollywood

So cute, I love it. That's why I love you. You are just perfection manifest. They like, we can do it. Yes. That's for the yes we can days, guys. I'm all for it. So, there's so many friggin' shows that are nominated for a SAG Awards. Like, a Big Little Lies, there's Glow, there is, um, Stranger Things. So thinking about all of these really dope casts. What cast would you love to be a part of?

Kristen Bell

Oh, wow. That's, that's very hard because I watch, I, I think I watch every show in this. First one that came to mind. Well, Glow, to be honest. But not, well, for the reason that I love the show, for the reason that it would be like very cool to wear those outfits and be a female wrestler, but also because two of my best dearest friends in the world are on that show in the ensemble, Jackie Tohn, who plays Melrose, and Chris Lowell. And so, I feel like everyone in here is very friendly and a lot of them are actually my friends, but they're like actually my friends.

Young Hollywood

That's even more dope than the fact that you can say, oh, my friends are on that show.

Kristen Bell

That's what I mean. Like, I've like, we, we have gone to auditions together, we've worked on auditions together. We've been friends for 15 years. And when I look out tonight, and I don't just see like my friends in the acting community, but I also see like my friends that like, I call to let my dog out when I'm going out of town. I'm like, yes, you are being celebrated and acknowledged tonight. It's like just an extra, it's an extra feeling of pride I'll have on stage knowing that they're here.

Young Hollywood

That's incredible. I love it. Now, really quick. Really, really quick. What would make you cry more? An audience filled with sloths, or the final episode of Game of Thrones?

Kristen Bell

Oh. Jesus, take the wheel. I'm sweating. Oh my God, I'm starting to sweat. That is, that's a very tough question.

Young Hollywood

Really?

Kristen Bell

I mean, Yes! Because, oh, wow. That's a really tough question. They would make me cry in different ways because if I saw the final episode of Game of Thrones, I would be crying out of sadness that it's over. Okay. Like, I'm already like, What am I gonna do with my life? I'm already apoplectic that we have to wait till 2019. I'm right for that vernacular. This is not okay. Okay? This is not okay. You told me you were handling it. Disrespectful. Um, but a room full of sloths, I'd be crying out of happiness.

Young Hollywood

Fair enough. You know? I love that. Well said. Kristen. I have a spectrum of emotions. You are perfection. Perfection manifest. Can I have a hug? So cute. Super cute.
