What's up, guys? Leslie Robbins here for Young Hollywood, behind the scenes at the Kids' Choice Awards. Standing to my right, WWE's biggest superstar, John Cena. You're hosting!
Yes, very excited to be hosting Kids' Choice this year. It is going to be fun!
Now, what makes you such a big kid that you can be at the helm of the Kids' Choice Awards?
Okay, I'm just going to outline this for you. I wear jean shorts, a t-shirt, ball cap, two sets of wristbands, on national television, every week, and get super excited. On top of that, I actually wave my hand in front of my face and think I'm invisible. I think I'm the most qualified person on Earth to host this award show. Thank you very much.
Now, when people aren't watching, what makes you a big kid?
I just get excited about stuff like this, and I think that's what Kids' Choice is all about, the excitement in the audience. I'm going to have fun with all this. And I just think not taking yourself too seriously is a key to be able to have some fun.
You keep using the word "fun." Now, when I think of green slime falling on top of me, I don't know if I would say, "Oh, that's fun." Do you think slime is awesome?
I've been slimed a bunch of times. It's the best. I'm not going to get slimed. This is the one thing though. I'm not going to get slimed tomorrow night. Because every year, it's like a running gag that the host always gets slimed. I've done my due diligence. I've talked to some stars of Nickelodeon who are going to watch my back, and instead of the host getting slimed, I'm going to try to slime every single person in the building.
Are you going to stay after hours to clean up the mess?
No, no, not at all. That's no fun. Cleaning up is no fun. It's making the mess that's fun. That's why I'm so fit to host the Kids' Choice. I just want to make a mess. I don't want to clean up after it.
Well, you are brains and brawn, my friend. You have your college degree in exercise physiology. You have done your homework.
Of course, I have. Yes, yes, yes.
You have this body, which comes with a lot of work, obviously, nutrition. But let's talk about the elephant in the room. You turn the big 4-0 in one month.
I do. Yes.
How is all of this going to change, you think? Exercising, eating?
It doesn't change. Oh, it's that doesn't change next month. It's a long change that happens over time. Uh, when I was 21, I could work out, eat whatever I wanted, do whatever I wanted, and work out again and still see results. As I turned 40, now I really have to be conscious of my choices. I have to really accurately know when to rest and when to go. It's that old adage of, I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was. So you plan for those peak days. You make really, really good nutritional choices. Like I really have to just eat a lot of vegetables and a lot of protein. Drink a lot of water. And uh, pick my spots. When I feel good, go. And when I feel bad, that's my body telling me to rest. Guys, it's that easy out there. I don't care what you do. Just make good choices nutritionally and listen to your body.
And when you want to cheat?
I don't Here's the crazy thing about that. Everybody's like, I want to cheat. I don't view it as cheating. I view it as living. It's a conscious choice. I mean, I said make good decisions. Okay, if I see 12 donuts there, and I know I'm going to have a donut, I make a good decision. Like, yeah, I'm having a donut. It's good. Don't worry about it. I don't have it over and over again because that's a bad choice. So don't think of it as cheating. Just think of it as a choice. I'm I'm having this. If I have it over and over again, the end result is I'm going to be out of shape.
Now, to prepare to be host of the Kids' Choice Awards, you need to kind of get energized. Obviously, you said the word fun. We need to get pumped up. I see some stairs here. I think we need to get our blood flowing a little bit. Do a little jog.
I'll I'll humor you. I'll humor you. You want to do a little bit?
Yeah, let's go for it. Yeah? Okay. So, what are we going to do? We're going to go down and up. We're going to go down and up, and maybe I'll beat you. Okay. Okay. Is there like a one, two, three, go?
Uh, I'll give you the honors, 'cause you are the superstar.
Okay, ready? Three, two, one, go! Brains and brawn. Oh!
Sometimes, you just got to outsmart your opponent.
I have to admit. That's That's pretty good. That's pretty good. Come on, come on back up. Wow, Amy Schumer taught you how to be funny, I see, huh?
I'm going for it. He's beating me! Wait, I'm in pursuit. I'm in him. Sometimes, you just got to outsmart your opponent. Your opponent is strong, appear weak. Be weak, appear strong. Slime him. It's not going to happen. Watch Kids' Choice. That is going to happen. I'm out of here. They can't see me.
