Braving the Emmys Heat with Tina Fey and More

Nikki Novak here for Young Hollywood on the red carpet at the Emmys. It is hot, hot, hot. I do mean the celebs, but I also mean the heat. Here with Matt Barr from Hatfields & McCoys. Did you just say you just went swimming?

I went swimming like about two seconds ago, hence why I'm so wet.

You don't even look warm. You're the first person I've I've seen that looks dewy and fresh. What is your secret?

Oh, thank you. I'm sweating everywhere. I think it's just an incredible makeup job.

Can you tell us one thing that we don't know about you?

About me? Um, that I wear Spanx to the red carpet even though it's 101 degrees. This isn't sweat. This is from clo a chlorinated pool. They do. It's a new thing at the Emmys. People were, um, you know, they they want it to be more posh, so they have a a jacuzzi actually right there.

How much would you pay right now for chilled Spanx?

Oh my god, chilled Spanx. Oh, just the thought of it cooled me off.

You dive you jump in with your suit, and then when you get out, you walk through these huge air vents, like a big, yeah. Any celebrations planned afterwards? We are spot 99, so we want you to party like it's 1999 for us.

Okay, that's probably the when I should party 'cause that's when I was young, was 1999.

Do you still have fun coming out to the red carpet?

I have so much fun. It's like a rush. You get here and you're like, wow, I I I can't believe I'm here again. And I know so many girls would love to be in my position, and I just feel so blessed and lucky to be here.

I think we're gonna try to get like a some kind of party going with all the people that know each other, like SNL, 30 Rock, Parks and Rec, Portlandia, get the whole crew going.

Too cool. It's like a little 8-year-old me is just so alive right now. A little karaoke, a little mosh pit maybe? Some some all you can eat crab legs? I don't know. Who would you secretly love to sit next to you tonight?

Um, well, I'm sitting next to my mother, so I can't. I can't top that. I can't top that. Yeah, yeah, so that's pretty awesome.

Oh, that's difficult to say. I would just love to sit next to any of my cast members. If I could sit next to Julie, I'd be really happy.

Really personal question here, okay? What's in your pocket?

Ooh, Chapstick. Altoids. You know.

Are you hanging on to them, or are you gonna share?

No, no, you don't don't share Altoids. You share money, share things, but don't share Altoids.

The show is now underway. The heat wasn't the only thing burning up the red carpet this year. It was all about see-through, sequins, and strapless. Who is the dress by?

Absolutely stunning. How many dresses did you try on before you decided?

One.

At this point, you're trying a lot or you sort of like, let's get this, let's get this.

Well, uh, the stylist I work with, Christina Ehrlich, really knows what she's doing and she kind of knows what works on me, and so this was like one of the first, maybe the second or third dress we tried on, we're like, yep, that's it.

How many dresses did you try on before you chose this one? This one's stunning.

This one was actually custom-made. I looked at a bunch of sketches. I didn't try any of them on.

How long did it take you to actually get ready for real?

It took me like five minutes. Yeah.

I love the plaid bow tie.

Who decided on that one?

Funny you ask. Um, actually, I decided this 'cause it's from the line that we created, uh, Tie the Knot, the foundation that my partner, Justin and I started.

I have to say, my favorite dress ever that you've worn on the red carpet.

It's Vivienne Westwood.

And look, it's the first thing that I noticed on the carpet. So you're doing something right.

Oh, yay. Awesome. That's great. So I know what I like and I I do like trying new things, which usually means some new crazy color and and working with a new designer. And I just started working with Monique earlier in the year for the Met Ball and I really I really like her whole thing.

Do you have some input into it?

I mean, I kind of was just like, she made sketches and I was like, wow, I I love that dress. I kind of want to wear that one.

You're so easygoing. You're just sorta like whatever.

I am. I kind of just like, I go with the flow.

The hair looks like it took a little longer than five.

Oh, man. Well, last time I saw you, it was like down to my shoulders. That that that was a hassle, so.

Did you cut it just because of the heat tonight?

Honestly, yes.

Tina Fey's gonna go crazy tonight.
