Um, first of all, your hair looks amazing.

Thank you. I literally just cut my bangs like two hours ago.

No way.

Yeah. I've been wanting to cut bangs for like two years, and then two days ago, I saw a picture of this girl who looked like so rocking them that I was like, you know what? I'm committing. I texted my makeup artist and my hair, I texted her, her name's April. I was like, April, we are doing this on Sunday. Like, we're getting it done. She said, okay, so we just did it.

I love that you do it like day of the Teen Choice Awards. That is like

It could have been really wrong and that would have been really bad. There would have been nothing we could have done. But, I mean, we're here. I'm happy with it. So.

That is really brave. But you look beautiful. And then you rock them. You rock them for sure.

So Selena Gomez, you were on tour. Like how crazy is that, by the way? Like. Tell me how that experience was.

It is definitely insane because Selena was one of the people that inspired me to want to become a singer when I was younger because I was right at that era. Like Selena Gomez was like one of like the most relevant women in my life when I was younger. So like I grew up with her. And it was cool to see somebody who started at a young age and inspired me and, you know, in their prime and doing their thing on stage in front of so many people. It was really awesome. And it was awesome because it was just such her fans are so amazing and performing my new songs in front of them every night. It was kind of scary, but like they always had such a good reaction and I just I had a really good time.

When you first met her, what was your reaction? Were you fan-girling? Was it

I was just like, I don't understand how a person can be this beautiful in real life. Like I just it's not a lie. Like it's not like just pictures. It's like in real life, you're just like, oh my God, like, are you real? This is crazy. It was definitely a really fun experience for me.

And then you have an EP. Are you working on a full, you're working on your next album, right?

Yes, I have an EP, a full album out. I'm working on my second album right now. That's why I'm in LA because I don't even live here anymore, but I've been here a lot. I've been writing a lot of music and I'm just really trying to get everything that I feel out right now. Um, because when you're a young person, there are a lot of people in your life who try to make you feel like you can't do something and try to tell you who to be and what to say and how to act and how to stand and like, you know, don't do that. And it's really hard to be able to stand up for yourself and say, no, I'm my own person and you're not in charge of me. And I see through you and I know that you're going to tell me that you're here to support me when in reality, you're actually tearing me down. And I think that's something that we all struggle with at some point in our lives and that's really what I was inspired with because I was having a really rough time convincing myself that it was okay to stand up for myself.

And I love that you've been so because like I was following you on the X-Factor and like so much has happened, you've grown so much and like, it's just amazing to see like you stayed who you are. You're so humble. You're you're amazing. Um, and then at Teen Choice, was there anyone you're like super, super excited to see?

Um, Justin Timberlake is here I've heard and I just like am crying on the inside. Like emotionally, I am a mess. because he's amazing. He's like the biggest legend of all time, so.

What would you say? Have you met him before?

No.

Oh, that's not to happen.

I would melt. I would not be alive.

You have words?

I would be like, I would like wouldn't be able to speak. It's it's fine though. It's fine.

And then, wait, okay. You and Jake, by the way, are the cutest ever and I love him. Okay. And then lastly, we're at the Teen Choice Awards. I have to ask you, of course. Has there been an awkward teen moment that you can remember? Everyone has awkward moments, right? But there's one that just stands out that you're like, oh my God, I can't believe this happened to me.

I was sitting with somebody and I was eating dinner with them and I spit when I was talking. Like he like laughed, then he kind of like wiping off his plate a little bit, like trying to see like if my food like landed on his plate. Like that was like a couple days ago and I was just like mortified.
