Welcome to Young Hollywood. com. Hey everyone, it's Michelle Mari with Young Hollywood and Yahoo Sports. I'm here with Michael Phelps right in front of your gorgeous cover right over here. How easy is that, right? I mean just doing the whole little pose right there. Goggles on, splash some water on, there you go, it's a picture. Now, congratulations on all your success. You're actually nominated for three SV's this year. How does that feel?
Uh, it's cool. This is the first award show that I've been to, uh, before and and, you know, it's it's it's very relaxed, it's low key. Everyone's everyone's having a good time joking around and I think that's what makes it so uh so good to come back.
Who are you really excited to see here at the SV's this year?
A bunch of football guys out here. I know some of the guys I went to school with at Michigan and I have a couple friends who are gonna come to the show so it's gonna be able to see these guys and catching up is gonna be good.
Now, recently you finally got the world record back. Very exciting. What went through your mind when you got that back?
Um, you know after sort of not really preparing the way that I probably should have this year. You know after taking six months off and being able to come back and do a best time and and being able to finally get that record back was uh something that I've wanted for quite some time and and now hopefully we can keep taking down a little bit a little bit at a time.
A little bit at a time. Do you feel like you're back in shape and ready to go for the next one?
Uh I'm in shape not great shape but uh you know I think over the next three years I'll I'll be ready when London comes around.
You'll be ready. Now, what would be the next record that you would love to break? There's so many of them out there.
That's a new way to ask what the goals are. I've never heard that one. I will say, um, you know there there are a lot of things that I have to do and and a lot of new events that I want to try, so, um, I'll take it year by year.
Now at a top speed 50-meter pool, how many strokes does it take to go from the beginning to the end? Butterfly?
I mean I can probably do it in 12 to 13 strokes.
So insane. So. Now when you were younger, did you ever dream of having like all of this success? I mean you're definitely representing USA so well.
You know I wanted it was something I always dreamed of and uh, you know I I never gave up on that dream and and you know I've been able to to accomplish everything I put my mind to so uh, you know I've just been very lucky and fortunate to uh to have everything go my way.
Are there any rituals you do before you actually go out there and swim?
Put on my headphones. Listen to music and that's about it.
What do you love to listen to?
Uh it's usually hip hop.
Hip hop. Who's your favorite artist right now?
Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, a little bit of everybody.
Always doing some good stuff. That's right. That's right.
