What's up, guys? Leslie Robbins here for Young Hollywood. Yes, I am coming to you from Dodger Stadium but tonight we are celebrating the 2014 Stanley Cup Champion, the Los Angeles Kings.

Guest

The fans here love you. We're at Dodger Stadium. We were at the Stadium Series back in January. What a difference five months makes.

L.A. Kings

Yeah, uh, it's a little different looking than uh when we were here before, but it's uh, it's got the same fans, so it's it's awesome. Yeah, you know, the times are a little different right now. Uh, we were struggling at that time of the season, and now uh, they're finally done here to relax for the summer and enjoy that Cup.

Guest

Yeah, it's fun to it's yeah, it's fun to be here and uh we have mad respect for these guys. They're athletes. Uh, real appreciation for their talents and their skills.

Young Hollywood

The Tommy Lasorda, you have the Stanley Cup in your house.

Tommy Lasorda

I'll tell you, I'm proud of that team. That team accomplished something that I I don't think any any team will ever ever duplicate that. Three-three down, three-one down, three-one down and they came back and won. That's you don't see that.

Young Hollywood

Jared, you guys won it in 2012. I was there, amazing. 2014. Nice fresh take on an achievement.

L.A. Kings

Uh, it just took a lot out of us. It was uh, same feeling but totally different, too. It's just uh the way we did it this year was uh was pretty special with uh with the teams we beat and how we beat them and uh you know, how hard it was. It was the hardest thing we've ever had to do and um, we did it together and uh I feel so good right now. I mean, the the entire experience, the playoffs, making the playoffs. Um, and playing in the NHL all together, it's it's been pretty surreal and um, slowly it's starting to sink in.

Young Hollywood

Here we are. 2014. Nice fresh take on a huge achievement.

L.A. Kings

Yeah, it's uh it's a pretty incredible year. Just the way the playoffs went was uh exciting and thrilling for everybody, and especially us to be there and play was was pretty awesome. It's very kind of surreal at the moment. Obviously, we've done this twice in two years and uh being able to mingle with the Dodger players and come to the stadium again is is an awesome feeling.

Young Hollywood

I mean, the fans, you got the parade. You're having two parades. This town loves you guys. Talk about that moment. Double OT. Alec scores. The crowd goes wild.

L.A. Kings

Oh, it's great. Obviously, uh for Alec, I think that's every kid's dream to be in that situation, to have the opportunity to score that goal, and couldn't have been a greater guy.

Young Hollywood

Congratulations on that OT goal. You did it for the team.

L.A. Kings

Uh no, it wasn't wasn't just me. I was the benefactor of other guys making good plays. It just just bounced to my stick. I don't really care who scored. It just as long as it was someone someone in our room.

Young Hollywood

Speaking of traveling around, that Cup is going to be traveling around. You get one day with it. What are you doing?

L.A. Kings

I'm going to go beyond back to Saskatchewan in Canada. Uh, I'm a pretty small town, so there's a lot of people back there that helped me get to where I am, and you got to share with people like that. This time around, I think I'm going to just be a little more chilled with it and uh probably a smaller group and just close family and friends and just enjoy it.

Young Hollywood

All right, you get one day with that beautiful piece of silver. What are you going to do with it?

L.A. Kings

Uh, I'll bring it back to Garner, my hometown. Uh, just family and friends, enjoy it and and try not to get too crazy. Probably just relax and enjoy it with my family and and friends back home in uh in Canada, and um, that's about it. Last time I think it was a little a little stressful. Um, tried to do too much. This time just going to try to relax and enjoy it.

Young Hollywood

So now you got two Cups. What are you going to do with the Cup this time around?

L.A. Kings

Um, not really sure yet. Um, it's been a bit of a whirlwind here, so uh, we'll figure that out in the in the coming weeks.

Young Hollywood

Talk about the one day you get with the Cup. What do you want to do with it?

L.A. Kings

Well, uh, I'm going to spend a lot of time with family and friends and uh do a little community stuff with it, but uh just enjoy it with my family.

Young Hollywood

What are you going to do?

L.A. Kings

Uh, I don't know. Last year I jam-packed so much uh uh stuff into it. I took it to the top of a mountain with on a helicopter, had some great photos, drank some good champagne in it. I don't know this time, so I really haven't had much time to think about it. We've kind of been busy, so I'll come up with something kind of fun and special. Now, I'm going to celebrate with my friends and my family and uh I think have some fun and I I'm not going to do anything too crazy.

Young Hollywood

All right, speaking of crazy, you're allowed to drink out of the Cup. What have you enjoyed so far?

L.A. Kings

Uh, I think the best thing so far is some M&M's.

Young Hollywood

I think you're lying. That's that's I swear. I saw some pictures in the locker room. I didn't see M&M's in there.

L.A. Kings

Oh, the champagne wasn't in the Cup at the time, so. We've had a couple uh bottles of champagne in that baby and a couple beers in there. I just had it. I put some beer in it.

Young Hollywood

I hope you drank that beer. I'm just kidding. No. I I I probably would put some uh Italian Lasorda's Italian wine. I'll have some with you. You can actually drink things out of the Cup. Have you enjoyed any type of beverage yet out of it?

L.A. Kings

Uh, yeah. We had champagne in it uh right after we won, and and obviously some beers and stuff, so um, definitely one of the coolest things that you want to do as a hockey player is drink out of it.

Young Hollywood

What kind of beverages have you been enjoying out of that Cup so far?

L.A. Kings

Oh, strictly on juice cleanse out of that thing right now.

Young Hollywood

So LA, right? Awesome. Now, the LA mayor dropped an F-bomb. He was so excited you guys won. If you can drop any curse word right now, we'll bleep you out. What's it going to be? How happy are you?

L.A. Kings

Oh, I don't know. I'm uh I'm too exhausted to to think of one.

Young Hollywood

I don't know. If you had the chance, we'll bleep you out. You can use any curse word just get your excitement out. What are you going to say?

L.A. Kings

I don't know. It's been a it's been a great year. I I'm not going to say it. I don't need to say it.

Young Hollywood

You guys are all so polite.

L.A. Kings

Yeah, thanks. Uh, not really, but on camera, we'll be polite.

Young Hollywood

If you could use a curse word and just shout your excitement, we'll bleep you out. What would you say?

L.A. Kings

I don't know, to be honest. I I have no idea. You got me on the spot. I don't know.

Young Hollywood

Like I'll start you. Oh my God! We [bleep] all over on the Cup!

L.A. Kings

I don't know. Outrageous. That's what I'll work with.

Young Hollywood

All right, I have to ask. When the hockey players do the handshake at the end, what do you guys say to each other?

L.A. Kings

Oh, it's just a lot of respect. It's it's just a lot of uh, you know, good series, good season. Uh, let them know that, you know, we we care and, you know, you almost feel bad in a way, but, you know, you're so happy to win, but um, just a lot of respect in those handshakes. We just uh congratulate them on a great series, a great year. Um, it's kind of respect to the to the game and and to each other and uh just, you know, it's just uh a great job on great battles and uh, you know, that's pretty much it.

Young Hollywood

All right. So talk about the handshake that hockey players do at the end. Winners shake the hands of losers.

L.A. Kings

Yeah. It's awesome.

Young Hollywood

What are you guys saying to each other?

L.A. Kings

Uh, just it it it's it's more about respect and, you know, it's it's respect that trophy sitting over there is that's why we grow our playoff beards. It's it's it's a commitment we're making to each other to do everything and everything possible to win that trophy, and so it's more or less like all your focus is on that task at hand, and so you don't shave. And when you shake their a lineup like that, it's kind of the same thing. It's just it's just uh respect for your opponents about how much they gave up and and how much effort they put into it, and uh yeah, I don't know. I think it's one of the coolest thing in all sports.

Young Hollywood

You don't have a beard anymore. I'm kind of I mean, you guys won the Cup, but I'm kind of bummed. Have you shaved your beard?

L.A. Kings

Yeah. Yeah. I know. I I need a I need a haircut and a clean shave to get myself looking clean again.

Young Hollywood

Thank God you haven't shaved your beard. Everyone else did.

L.A. Kings

I know. I it's I think it looks good, so I'm going to leave it for a little bit.

Young Hollywood

Your legs probably are jelly at this point. Are you going to take the summer off? Not work out? Uh, when do you get back to the gym?

L.A. Kings

Two or three weeks off and uh then get back at it. You got to you know, next season's going to come quick. September 18th is the start of training camp, so Um, we know that. We're prepared for that and probably take two maybe three weeks and uh not do much and get right back into it.

Young Hollywood

The legs must be jelly. I can't imagine you're going to the gym right now.

L.A. Kings

No. No, not for a while. Going to take some time off. I think we'll take a couple weeks, like you said, to uh to rest and enjoy.

L.A. Kings

A lot of guys travel back to where they're from, so maybe around two, three weeks, then you then you gear up again because when you have a moment like this, you just want to do it again.

Young Hollywood

Are you going to take a few weeks off before you go back to the gym?

L.A. Kings

Uh, definitely. Definitely going to relax right now. I think some guys are going to Vegas, and uh just just relax.

Young Hollywood

What does an LA King winner of the 2014 Stanley Cup do in Vegas?

L.A. Kings

Uh, probably whatever they want almost.
