Stanley Cup champions, the LA Kings! This is Leslie Robbins, your for Young Hollywood. Hockey is back! I am inside the Staples Center, inside the locker room with the Stanley Cup champion, the LA Kings. Got the banner, you got the ring, you got the crowd back. How'd that feel?
Uh, you know, it's it's good to get back out there obviously and you know, we weren't able to accomplish what we're what we set out to for today and you know, we're just going to have to learn from our mistakes and uh, get better. You know, look forward to get on the road there and try to win a few games up there.
So talk about the beautiful ceremony that went on before the game.
Um, I thought it was fantastic. It was uh, I was part of the '09 team that won in Pittsburgh, but didn't get to share in the ceremony. And I thought it was I thought the organization did a great job of organizing, you know, a ceremony that was as short as it could be but also tried to, you know, share the cup with the fans and the people that have supported us the most.
All right, let's talk about the fans for a minute. They were supporting you, loving you out there, your name was called, they went off. How'd that feel?
Felt pretty good, you know, it's it was great for the whole team, the organization to see a sold out building and even the goal sticks and that, how everybody just really relished and cherished the moment.
How'd you feel the chemistry was out there?
It was okay. I mean, it's gonna, you know, it's the first game and it's uh, you know, usually you can get these kinks out in preseason, but you don't have that luxury this year. So you gotta you gotta get it going here. I mean, guys are ready to play, guys are ready to go. It's just a matter of uh, getting yourself back together and just doing the right making the right decisions. I think uh, you know, we uh, we made mistakes. I made mistakes tonight. Took two penalties and uh, cost us a goal with a bad read.
You made the first goal of the night?
Yeah, well um
Of the season?
Yeah, well, it was uh, I think that was more I'll give the credit to most of the forwards, a man took the shot, but uh, I'm not sure who was screening the goalie in front, but he never saw the puck, so I think it was you know, uh, a five-man unit. That's how you have to score goals in this league and hopefully we can do some more.
You were holding some very beautiful and very expensive boxes. What is inside the boxes?
Uh, in this one, we got uh, the ring and then in this one I believe is a mini Stanley Cup. So uh, both things will put away be put away somewhere safe where uh, you know, no one can steal them from me.
Is that jewelry you're gonna wear or that just goes away?
For me, no, I probably won't. I don't wear much uh, jewelry on my fingers, just the watch usually. So uh, put this somewhere away safe, like I said, maybe in an actual safe and then uh, yeah, I won't be wearing it much.
Your time away, you brought the family over to Europe. How did that go?
Uh, it was good, comfortable. I mean, my kids loved it. My my wife liked it. I mean, Switzerland's a pretty nice place and um, overall it was a good experience.
So it's not like you were actually a house husband. You were working.
Uh, yeah, when we were in Europe, so, um, you know, it was just for me, for me personally to get on the ice and try to keep my game sharp. I actually went over to Finland to play for a couple months and then uh, I actually took a shot to the face and had to get some reconstructive surgery. So, um, that that wasn't so great.
I kind of like your scar. If we can get a close up of that, war wound. I kind of I think it makes you look looks like you've gone to battle and you won actually. Looks like.
Uh, I don't know if I won. I think that I think this slash shot won, but uh, I guess I guess time will tell.
During the time that you had off, you were home a lot. Did your wife just say get out already? I'm sick of you. You were home a lot.
No, I was a fantastic Mr. Mom and uh, you know, could have a second career.
What's the nicest thing you heard on Twitter from a fan?
Um, I think just support, you know, throughout the lockout, you know, them them telling us that they were uh, you know, that they were behind us and things like that. So, um, you know, every once in a while, I get a few few compliments which are nice. So, um, but I'm assuming that I'll probably get some the other way too sooner or later. But uh, I don't know, it's just support throughout the lockout was was a good thing to see.
What's the worst one you got? Like the rudest comment you wanted to just tell them off?
Uh, I mean, I I don't really want to tell anybody off, but um, just something along the lines of I'm not a good hockey player, this and that. So, I don't know, it comes with the territory, that's fine.
This is Young Hollywood and I'm not that young anymore, so I don't know what I'm doing here. You've already lost your teeth, so that means you're pretty old, right?
I know, I'm looking for some dentures online. How's that going for you?
Uh, they're I think they're trying to price gouge me.
Hey, this is Drew Dowty and you're watching uh Young Hollywood.
