What's up, guys? Nicki Novak here for Young Hollywood at the Holy Grail.

Young Hollywood

I'm about to interview Free Safety for the Atlanta Falcons, Thomas DeCoud.

Young Hollywood

Can't wait to meet him.

Young Hollywood

Who may be behind me.

Young Hollywood

Not sure.

Young Hollywood

Meow.

Thomas DeCoud

Meow you doing?

Young Hollywood

Meow.

Young Hollywood

I know you said that before and it's a reference from, is it Super Troopers?

Thomas DeCoud

Yes, Super Troopers.

Thomas DeCoud

One of my favorite movies.

Young Hollywood

'Cause I knew you said it before in the interview and then the person just went like.

Thomas DeCoud

You said he didn't know actually.

Thomas DeCoud

He tweeted me after that.

Thomas DeCoud

He said he actually had no clue until I gave him the final, definitive meow.

Young Hollywood

It was very subtle.

Thomas DeCoud

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Thomas DeCoud

This, it's an art form.

Thomas DeCoud

You gotta slide it in and then they kinda have to make him wonder like, is he, is he mispronouncing something?

Thomas DeCoud

What did he say?

Young Hollywood

Yeah.

Young Hollywood

I know your grandfather played for the 49ers.

Young Hollywood

So, first of all, your thoughts on the game.

Young Hollywood

So, I know you grew up in the San Fran area.

Young Hollywood

Were you kinda rooting for the 49ers or were you impartial when you play for the Falcons?

Thomas DeCoud

Uh, it was kinda like a combination of the two.

Thomas DeCoud

Yeah.

Thomas DeCoud

After we lost, you know, I was like, you know, it was kinda bittersweet because I grew up a Niners fan.

Thomas DeCoud

But as soon as that game kicked off, I was like, let's go Ravens.

Young Hollywood

You gotta split.

Young Hollywood

One thing your team is known for, obviously the Dirty Bird.

Thomas DeCoud

Yeah.

Young Hollywood

But I wanted a little lesson in the Dirty Bird.

Thomas DeCoud

Okay.

Young Hollywood

From you.

Thomas DeCoud

I got you.

Thomas DeCoud

So.

Thomas DeCoud

First thing you gotta get the, you gotta get the hop.

Thomas DeCoud

So, boom.

Thomas DeCoud

And then you out.

Young Hollywood

You can even do that with your cast on your hand.

Thomas DeCoud

Out and then up.

Thomas DeCoud

Out and then you flat.

Young Hollywood

Yeah.

Young Hollywood

Mhm.

Thomas DeCoud

You gotta build the wings and then you make them flat.

Young Hollywood

Okay.

Young Hollywood

So, one more thing I need to learn from you.

Thomas DeCoud

Okay.

Young Hollywood

The Cross Chop.

Thomas DeCoud

All right, so first of all, the basis for all, most of my celebrations come from Martin Lawrence.

Thomas DeCoud

And he was famous for the little chicken dance.

Thomas DeCoud

So, you just gotta just let it go.

Thomas DeCoud

It's all about freestyling right now, whatever.

Thomas DeCoud

You just gotta let all the energy go, then you finish it with the Cross Chop.

Young Hollywood

I feel like I'm gonna get in trouble for that.

Thomas DeCoud

No, you're good.

Thomas DeCoud

I mean, they, I didn't get any, I didn't get any trouble in there.

Thomas DeCoud

They're quick to fine us for most anything.

Thomas DeCoud

You gotta, no, you gotta walk up and present it.

Thomas DeCoud

And then hit 'em with the chop.

Young Hollywood

Oh, excuse me.

Young Hollywood

All right, and you're also known for, I know growing up your jumping ability?

Thomas DeCoud

Yeah.

Thomas DeCoud

The one year I did run track, I like set the California record for my age group for the high jump.

Thomas DeCoud

And then uh, what else?

Thomas DeCoud

Long jump.

Thomas DeCoud

I was pretty much known for my jumping ability.

Young Hollywood

We're gonna have a vertical leap off.

Young Hollywood

Okay.

Young Hollywood

So we'll see if you can touch the lights.

Young Hollywood

One, two, three.

Young Hollywood

Oh my God!

Young Hollywood

He did it!

Young Hollywood

How did that just happen?

Young Hollywood

When I looked at that, I thought there was no way.

Young Hollywood

No way!

Young Hollywood

And now they're shaking.

Young Hollywood

We have a little something for you here.

Thomas DeCoud

Oh, wow.

Young Hollywood

And how did we know that you'd be wearing a beanie today?

Thomas DeCoud

Mhm.

Thomas DeCoud

It's my trade-m- I'm thinking about getting it registered.

Thomas DeCoud

Uh, these are awesome.

Thomas DeCoud

These are definitely getting worn.

Young Hollywood

Yes.

Young Hollywood

How do I look?

Thomas DeCoud

Great.

Young Hollywood

Oh, wait, you gotta put it back more, right?

Thomas DeCoud

Yeah, you gotta, yeah, like, you gotta.

Young Hollywood

Show me how I do this.

Thomas DeCoud

It has to be pretty much, you gotta have a little poof in the front so it hangs just off the back.

Young Hollywood

Wait.

Young Hollywood

Let me see if I can get a little poof going.

Thomas DeCoud

And it has to hang just off the back quarter of your head.

Young Hollywood

Okay.

Thomas DeCoud

You gotta give 'em a shake.

Thomas DeCoud

Make sure it sits right and you're good.

Young Hollywood

So, we tweeted out that we were gonna be interviewing you and there was, I mean, you have a lot of fans, obviously, but there was one fan in particular that kept tweeting and tweeting and tweeting.

Young Hollywood

He was kinda getting on our nerves at a certain point.

Young Hollywood

But we figured we'd throw him a bone.

Young Hollywood

He made a video for you actually.

Thomas DeCoud

Oh, wow.

Young Hollywood

With a question.

Young Hollywood

So, if you don't mind answering this question, here we go.

Anthony Mackie

It's Matt, right?

Anthony Mackie

My dog, Matt.

Anthony Mackie

Thomas, what's up?

Anthony Mackie

It's Matt from Atlanta.

Anthony Mackie

I'm a big fan.

Anthony Mackie

My question for you is in 2008 you were drafted by the Falcons.

Anthony Mackie

Who in that draft class with you, uh, has had the most influence on you?

Anthony Mackie

Obviously, Matt Ryan, the quarterback for the Falcons, obviously.

Thomas DeCoud

Yeah, I mean, I would obviously, I'm gonna have to go with uh, William Moore.

Thomas DeCoud

No.

Thomas DeCoud

No, Matt, Matt has definitely helped me get better.

Thomas DeCoud

We've, I mean, we both came in together and we've really grown as uh, you know, counterparts on offense and defense, because you know, he's the quarterback of the offense and technically the safety is the quarterback of the defense.

Thomas DeCoud

So, we've definitely helped each other grow and get, get, get better throughout the course of our years here.

Young Hollywood

If you could ask him anything that you've never asked him before, what would it be?

Thomas DeCoud

I would say, Matt, who's the most dynamic safety you've ever gone against and why?

Young Hollywood

Yeah, Matt.

Young Hollywood

Who would that be?

Young Hollywood

Who, who?

Thomas DeCoud

I mean, I, I have someone in mind.

Thomas DeCoud

But I wanna hear it from you though.

Young Hollywood

So, I know you, you're like a shoe guy, it's sort of like apropos that we're here at the Holy Grail, because you are a shoe guy.

Young Hollywood

You own how many pairs of shoes?

Thomas DeCoud

Close to 700 pairs.

Young Hollywood

Now, what is it about shoes?

Young Hollywood

Because girls are all into shoes.

Young Hollywood

But what is it about shoes for you?

Thomas DeCoud

It was just the fact that I had big feet growing up and like my shoe size was my age, you know, until I was about 13 and a half, 14.

Thomas DeCoud

So, it was just going and buying a pair of shoes was more of an experience for me.

Young Hollywood

Okay.

Young Hollywood

So, let's just take a little stroll around and maybe you could sort of school me a little bit on shoes.

Thomas DeCoud

See, like all these in here, they're, they're in this case for a reason.

Thomas DeCoud

You know, this one is another from that same Galaxy pack.

Young Hollywood

Oh, yeah, it's the same thing.

Thomas DeCoud

With the same, you know, Galaxy print on 'em.

Young Hollywood

So, how much would something like that be worth?

Thomas DeCoud

Those are, you know, anywhere from $500 to $800.

Thomas DeCoud

These are above, run more than $1,000 for a pair.

Thomas DeCoud

These right here, these, these two right here, well, this whole middle row might be the whole expensive, most expensive row in here.

Young Hollywood

These are the McFly ones, right?

Thomas DeCoud

Yeah, these are the mags.

Young Hollywood

Okay.

Thomas DeCoud

So, these are the ones that were seen in um, Back to the Future 2.

Young Hollywood

Ready, Young Hollywood?

Young Hollywood

All right.

Young Hollywood

One, two, three.

Young Hollywood

And he can hold it longer than I can.
