Hey guys, Nikki Novak here for Young Hollywood at San Diego Comic-Con with the fabulous Dwight Howard. Great to see you.
Oh, man, I'm so happy to be here at Comic-Con.
You look happy to be here.
Oh, yes, I have my Predator outfit on today. So basically this is how you're able to walk around Comic-Con and have people not come up to you and you know, ask for autographs all day. You can go and be like, I can be a kid.
Which is great. I mean, they're going to be like, this is the tallest Predator in the world. Who is that guy? They're going to know it's someone that probably, you know, plays basketball, but
Yeah, but see. The last time I came, this was crazy. I didn't have on a crazy outfit. And a kid came up to me and said, hey, why are you dressed as Dwight Howard? And I was like, I I am. He was like, no, you're not. You're playing. So I just played along with it and told him, yeah, Dwight Howard, I'm a big fan of his and you know, it was great. The best costume ever.
How do you eat fresh? How do you stay in shape?
Um, well, doing the season, you know, I try to stay away from all types of sugar. You know, uh, back in my younger days, I was just just a big candy fiend. Always eating sugar, then I realized, you know, that's not good for me. And I get tired faster, and I'm not not able to do the things that I want to do on the floor. Uh, so I just try to stay away from any type of sugar, anything that's going to, you know, slow the healing process or the the process of, you know, after a game or trying to recover. Sit at home and eat my steaks and potatoes and, you know, try to get big and muscular so when I put on the Predator outfit, I'll come back and try to defend you from anybody in the world. Yes, I have to protect you. I love movies. I'm just big into movies and just how they can relate to my life. You know, uh, some of the the best movies that I watch are like Finding Nemo and The Dark Knight with the whole Batman series. I like I love those.
So tell me how Finding Nemo relates to your life and how Batman relates to your life.
Okay, we're going to start with Finding Nemo. Back when I was a little kid, I was little Nemo and my dad, you know, he came to find me and it was just like there when they found each other. They had that love and, you know, just trusting each other and they just had a beautiful life. And then The Dark Knight, he went from a hero to a villain to a hero again and just that whole process and, you know, I just I can relate to it.
So people talk about spirit animals, who's your spirit animal? Who's your spirit superhero? Is it Batman or
Well, see, everybody calls me Superman. Uh, but I love I love Batman and if it's not Batman, it's either The Hulk or Iron Man. A lot of my friends called me The Hulk dipped in chocolate, which is crazy.
What gets you Hulk-like? What gets you angry? What gets you to that, you know? Well, what gets you fired up?
I'm pretty mellow. I hate losing and I try not to take it out, you know, in front of fans or, you know, around people. So I smile a lot, but then when I get home, that's when The Hulk comes out.
I feel like the athletes that I've met have to have that I hate to lose mentality. In order to be that good and that competitive.
I hate to lose and I remember my first year in the league, we would lose a game and I'd be so hurt. I was sitting there in the shower and beat on the shower, beat on the wall in the shower, boom, boom, and I hate losing. I'm crying. And after I got in the shower, one of my teammates was like, man, we got 82 games. You're going to lose one. And I was like, I don't want to lose any. I want to break Michael Jordan's record. I want to go 82 and 0. And I was just going ham, but it was just like, you got you want to win. It's nobody wants to lose. And you have to learn that lesson like sometimes in life and in basketball and in sports, you have to lose in order to enjoy the process of winning and that journey.
So which of the superheroes do you think would make the best basketball player? If there was a basketball player that'd be really good or superhero that'd be good, I might have to go with Captain America.
I might have to go with Captain America.
That's a great choice. That's a great choice. Okay, and if you're rounding up the team, what other superheroes are on your team?
Okay. So, uh, Captain America, okay. And then I'm going to go with the Wolverine cuz he's never going to quit. He's going to fight till the end. Then I'm going to have to go with The Hulk because he's going to get all the rebounds, he's going to push people out the way. He's going to break the board. Well, I'm going to tell him not to dunk. Only layups. Uh, then I'm going to have to go with Superman. And the last one would have to be, uh, this is going to be crazy. Michelangelo. Wait. From Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Which is right behind you. Oh, hey, guy. In the Ninja Turtles, he was the guy that was the life. He brought life into the whole group. And that's what he would bring to the team. You know, we're sort of like in that we want to have fun. When it's time to get serious, we can, but at the end of the day, we love everybody. We don't want to see anybody hurt. And I love pizza. So there you go.
You're good off the cup. We could we could like be like a good duo.
We we could. So if you want to do it, you know, uh, you are Marvin the Martian's wife.
I am. Or girlfriend. Girlfriend. Yeah. I'm not that committed to Marvin.
Oh, wow. Yeah. Well, you know, so I could be Marvin the Martian, the tall version.
You could. And we can go out and and explore the world of Comic-Con together and interview a whole bunch of people and have a good time.
I have no problem with that. I need a name though, because you know, I don't think they ever named Marvin the Martian's girlfriend, so do you want to name me?
Well, you look like a beautiful mist. So I'm going to call you Misty the Martian. How about that?
I can't tell you how much I love that. You're the best dancer of anybody I've ever interviewed in my entire life.
No.
Yeah, you do. You're making me blush. The Comic-Con Crashers. You know how they have wedding crashers? Yeah. Me and you could be the Comic-Con Crashers. You're going to need. And we just go around and crash all the parties and everything going on and we just stopped that whatever's going on and it's just be the Misty and the Martian Show. I have to protect Misty. I see it now. Do you see it over there? See, everybody thought you were staying in shape for basketball, but it was really for Misty. It's for me and you. I'm watching it now. On another planet and everybody is trying to get to you. And I'm like, no, I'm going to defend my lady. I like that. With passion. That's why I put on this beautiful outfit to show her that nobody's going to take her away. That's why I have one red feather. You gave this to me and I put it at the top of my helmet. Yeah, it was good. Can I have that fan now, please?
Um, I think you just wrote like a the next like Marvel script or something. I think that was it.
We should do it. We should do it. So we're going to crash Comic-Con. Then we're going to take over the Marvel Universe. Mhm. You know. And then we're going to take over the world. I mean, it's just a it's just a perfect segway.
I thank you for being here. I'd love to go out. I'd love to just sort of stand and just sort of, you know, maybe we'll just leave and go off and fight crime together. Would you like me to lead the way?
I would. Let's go. Follow me.
