I'm Oliver here with Young Hollywood backstage at the Avalon in Hollywood for Portugal The Man's sold out show. It's about to get rocky. Who would you say your inspirations are in this band? It's quite a unique sound. It's it's great.

Yeah, thank you. Um I think collectively, you know we all grew up on the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd. Weird Al Yankovic for sure.

That's that Canadian guy isn't it? Or something?

No, he just seems Canadian because he parodies songs.

Okay, okay. So American is going to be the newest single. Is that right? So this is sixth record in the in the mountain in the cloud. Um how would you say this is different to the rest? The other the other five.

Obviously I'm going to say it's much, much better.

Great answer. You you've been trained.

A lot of it at the beginning was falling apart. We weren't working well together. We weren't communicating. And in the end, I think through all that hardship, it ended up being a much better record. We thought it out way more. We trimmed all the fat we cut off a bit. And it was mixed by Andy Wallace. So that helps. Obviously sonically, he's uh I mean, amazing things. Jeff Buckley's Grace, Nirvana's Nevermind, Slayer, Rage Against the Machine. He's he's all over the place.

The artwork on the albums are amazing as well.

Our singer John does all the drawings. And then he works with our buddy Austin Sellers who's actually sewing merch for us on this tour. They they worked very well together. Yeah, we've got a good thing going.

I was reading you've done like over 800 shows maybe even more, but that's what's logged is what I've read. Um any crazier show stories or tour stories that you can let us into?

Yeah, it was Halloween and I got punched by a really big guy. He attacked us with a rolling pin. I'm sure he got done baking cookies or something cute like that.
