You describe our music as uh, G-punk beach punk. It's kind of a mashup of lots of genres. To be honest, when we started just making music, it kind of just ended up this mashup of, you know, heavy beats, DIY, punk feel attitude to it. So, naturally, G-punk came pretty easy. Unexpectedly drunk on a Sunday. Waking up, standing on my head. It's all I ever do want on a Sunday. I can't complain. Unexpectedly drunk on a Sunday. Oh yeah, it's gonna be a good one. It's all I ever do want on a Sunday. What's up everybody? We're New Beat Fund. And welcome to our backstage diary. Me and my brother started playing when we were young. He started playing bass out of his umbilical cord.

And then uh, we kind of started jamming out from there. Growing up in Southern California, like the first thing you grab is like a punk rock kid is a skateboard. So you start skating around and then Shelby's kind of a big surfer and we started surfing in high school and stuff. We grew up with like a lot of punk rock and kind of like the mid-early nineties, the punk rock, like pop punk and all that stuff was getting huge out here. Tonight we have a uh, record release show at Bardot, which is going to be pretty awesome. I think we played our fourth show here and uh, I got choked out by the promoter.

Um, it was Grateful Friday and uh, I use a lot of foul language, which I was instructed not to, but, you know, when you're in the moment, things happen. The name New Beat Fund came from we were in a studio at Sound City Studios, the legendary Sound City Studios, working with a producer named Matt Wallace. There was a little piggy bank thing that was "The New Boat Fund" that he had next to the studio monitor. And uh, we crossed out the O to an E. So it made the New Beat Fund. And what we do as a more of a community, you know, getting like a group of people and friends and we're all hanging out, we're all helping each other.

Think it's kind of like a reflection of the time, you know, we're not like, we're not pretentious or anything. So we like to uh, make our show just like a big party and everybody to like be a part of it. None of us have ever really fit into any specific scene or click or whatever in any of our lives really. And same with this band, we don't really fit into any genre. We kind of are doing our own thing and a lot of people that like our music are the same way. They don't know exactly where they fit in, but they kind of know that it's cool to stand out and be themselves. Last night, we went out with some girls and we went to a square dancing bar. Uh, and it it was like a beginner's class.

You know, we learned some moves, some steps. The Socal lifestyle, I think in general is, if you grow up here, you're driving around, you're going to the beach. You know, you can go snowboarding. When we're not playing music, you know, we're just like, we just want to go have fun, surf, go to the beach. What's up everybody? We're New Beat Fund. Thanks for joining us for the Young Hollywood Backstage Diaries. See you. Bye. Peace.
