And Blue Neighborhood, just just that line alone. Can you just, I mean, I have what I feel like I feel like Blue Neighborhood is. Right. You're probably right. What do you have to say about that?

Um, for me it was about um, it was a lyric that I wrote in one's one of my songs called Wild that was like, leave this blue neighborhood and Leave this blue neighborhood. Never knew love could hurt this good, oh. It drives me wild. I grew up in a really small community and um kind of just you know felt that small town-ish vibe and and kind of fantasized about going away and like doing things like this and um and what that would be like. And as well, I think as like as a closeted kid, I was like, what what else is out there in like the big world, you know what I mean? And so I used to often just think about, you know, leaving and um, so it it kind of became this constant theme of home and missing home and loving home but also kind of having the curiosity of wanting to be away from home and it was this theme that kind of stretched throughout the whole album and so I decided to call the album Blue Neighborhood.

You said something how you discover YouTube when you were just first time performing? Can you bring us back when you you first performed at like a a mall or

Yeah. So I just sung at a mall in Perth and then um my cousin from South Africa sent me a YouTube video link and he was like, good job singing. I was like, how did you find this? How is this on the internet? And he was like, no there's this website called YouTube where you can upload videos and someone must have been filming it and and uploaded it. And that just like blew my mind.

So it took a long time for YouTube to come to Perth.

Yeah, I think so. I mean, this is in 2007. It was like one year old so

They already had it where he had it. Where where did he find it?

South Africa.

South Africa. Mhm. Crazy, right? That's crazy. I've always been a huge fan. He's just amazing and I love his voice. I love him to death. Your mom was a model.

Yeah when she was like, I think she started doing it when she was like 14 or 13 or something like that and then um she stopped after she had my older brother. And yeah, she used to like travel for it and and do a lot of stuff in South Africa.

Do you feel like that kind of maybe giving you kind of an inspiration?

I think it was yeah, it was just like the mindset more so than anything else that you actually can do things like that and that things like that are actually possible, that they can happen. She got to see the world that way and so um knowing that that was like a viable thing, I think was definitely something that was inspiring to me.

So let's do a game. What if? What if we had to run away and go somewhere? Where would we go?

From here, I would say Palm Springs. Have you been?

Ooh, I have been to Palm Springs. I love Palm Springs.

Yeah. I want to go back.

Yeah. To be honest, when I was when we were writing Youth, I was thinking about Palm Springs.

Really? Yeah. Cause of what? Like the deck.

Yeah we're in L. A. and then like, I was like, I don't know, I just picture like a desert road trip, you know, running away.

What if you had to lock yourself away and write a song and go there and just like, you can't go anywhere else?

Like for how long?

He's gonna say Palm Springs.

No, I was I was gonna say a shopping center so that I can eat the food and like go to the furniture store and like sleep on the beds and stuff like that.

You're productively looking at this like how can you survive?

I'm trying to think how to like survive wherever I'm locked up. But um if I was to lock myself up to write a song I would probably just be like, in a hotel room or my bedroom maybe.

And any city maybe?

I really like writing in Sydney.

Ooh. Yeah. What if you had to wear your favorite outfit of all time tonight for the show, what is that vibe look like?

I wore a really, really cool jacket on Ellen. I it was like this

Is that the one on the moon with like um astronaut jacket? People landing on the moon and American flags and stuff and

I really, really like that jacket.

Do you still have it?

No, I don't have it anymore.

Where is it?

It's it's back with Saint Laurent people, yeah.

Saint Laurent. They took it back.

Yeah, yeah.

He wants his jacket back. Okay, last question. What if it was Valentine's Day today? Who would be your Valentine?

I'd probably like tweet some celebrity or something like that, try my luck. Maybe slide into someone's DMs if they follow me. There's actually this guy, I think he's going to the Olympics for like skiing or something like that. His name is Gus Kenworthy and he just came out and he is an insane athlete and he's a beautiful man too, so.
