Young Hollywood

Welcome to Young Hollywood. com. Hey guys, I am here with Jojo in the recording studio with the stereotypes and we've been having fun so far. It's a crazy process, right?

JoJo

Yeah, I mean, every time you come into the studio, it's different. And sometimes it takes longer than others and sometimes you just catch a vibe and then sometimes you have to kind of explore and see what feels like the right thing to do.

Young Hollywood

Now, the stereotypes are obviously like they're they're producers that everybody wants to work with, and I know they've worked with they have hits on right now and you and them seem to have a lot of chemistry from watching you for the past couple hours. What was it about them that you really loved that made you want to work with them?

JoJo

I was excited by the fact that they listened to every different type of music and that they can do anything. And I just really liked their vibe. I'm really big on on how people just get along, you know what I mean? They're fun. And if it's a weird environment in the studio and you can't be honest and crack jokes and just be yourself, that's the wrong place to be. We all have a similar goal and we all, you know, just wanna do stuff that is satisfying artistically, but also can be a big hit.

Young Hollywood

Now, what are you going for with this album? R&B pop, what is it?

JoJo

I like to think that this album is just a it's going to be a big pop record. And pop doesn't mean the same thing that it meant maybe, you know, five, even five years ago. I think that it's really evolved and it really we just want big, undeniable records. But that's still true to me. You know, I don't like to sing about things that I'm not feeling and that I don't relate to because otherwise I'm not gonna get the best vocal performance. So, I want it to be a slice of my life. I want other young women and young people to relate to it, and I want it to kind of stretch across the board. And I don't want to sound like anyone else. I don't want people to say, oh, she's biting off of that. Right. It's not, that's not where I'm at right now. You gotta keep it Jojo. Yeah. Whatever that is, because at 19, who who am I? Exactly. I don't know.

Young Hollywood

I mean, you've been around for so long. You started out at a really young age. How old were you when you first got your number one hit? I think it was 12 or 13, right?

JoJo

I was 13. I've recorded the song at 12, so Leave Get Out was my first single, and then it's just been, um, quite a journey ever since. First album at 13, second at 15, and, um, you know, finished high school. That was very important, obviously. And now I'm getting ready to release new stuff.

Young Hollywood

Well, this is like a whole new look and sound for you because, you know, you're not a teenager anymore. You're entering into like the young adult world. And so, obviously, your lyrics and other things about Jojo have changed. So, what would you say the new Jojo is? Like, what what are you going for with the new album as far as like your lyrics?

JoJo

Good question. I'm all over the place, you know, personally in my life. And it's just a very strange time. It's a transformative time. It's a time of experimentation and falling on your face and. So, all those things I'm talking about and about just messing up and making dumb decisions and hurting people and getting hurt and having to work through that. So, all the songs that I've recorded so far have really been a slice of life.

Young Hollywood

I have to say your fans are insane. I was telling you that when you walked in the door. What can you, you know, say to them as far as like any kind of sneak peek on like what they can expect?

JoJo

I'm just I'm keeping the fans in mind at all times because I don't want to it's been such a long time. I don't want them to be any less than thrilled. So, I just feel a great responsibility in the in the album that I'm going to put out. You know, I really want them to be to feel like the wait was worth it because it's been a long ass time. I'll just say that, you know, everything I'm doing, I'm trying to do it to the next the next level for me and trying to be honest and speak from a truthful place and, um, do things that are fun and, uh, that you're gonna want to listen to over and over again and that's gonna get, you know, ingrained in your mind. That's what I'm looking for.

Young Hollywood

I like that.

JoJo

Hey, Young Hollywood, this is Jojo. I'm in the studio with the stereotypes. We're cooking up something. Who knows what it is yet. Um, stay tuned.
