Lady Antebellum

Young Hollywood

Welcome to Younghollywood. com. Hey everyone, Nicki Novak here for Young Hollywood. Country superstars, Lady Annabell take over the Trubador for a stripped down intimate show and we're here to take it in. Tell me have you ever wanted someone so much it hurts? Your lips keep trying to speak but you just can't find the words. Here with Lady Annabellum, Charles, Hillary, Dave, how's it going?

Lady Antebellum

Going good. Good.

Young Hollywood

This is kind of a small venue for you guys.

Lady Antebellum

Oh, this takes us back. This is uh, you know, the way we started in Nashville. Um, we played a couple of times out here in LA. We played the Mint, um, and a couple of these other small clubs. So,

Young Hollywood

How do you feel about LA coming from Nashville?

Lady Antebellum

I I love it. The weather's amazing. So, honestly, we always look forward to coming.

Young Hollywood

You kind of look like an LA boy with your tat. Yeah. Is that a dream catcher? What is that?

Lady Antebellum

someone called it a waffle the other day. I was like, it's not a waffle. It's called the flower of life.

Young Hollywood

You were at an IHOp and somebody just

Lady Antebellum

I did. A waiter trip. Just, I'm a big, I'm a big fan of IHOp. Uh, no, I mean we're But I think just being here in LA. I mean, there is, you know, a certain excitement to the area and so we're always excited to come and and we've been doing a few of these small shows in Chicago, New York and here in LA and and it's fun for us to kind of play these songs off the record, you know, in more of an intimate, you know, kind of songwriter way. So. And there's such history here at the Trubador, you know. Yeah. So many people have played here. So we're honored to be on that stage.

Young Hollywood

After playing such big venues and I know you just did the national anthem and hearing like the echo and that whole thing. Is it kind of nice to be able to just?

Lady Antebellum

It's almost more fun in a place like this. I mean people are so close up. Sometimes some of the big venues you lose that intimacy when people are so far away from you but these are great. I mean, we love doing these and especially as songwriters, I think we love being able to play the songs we write this close to our fans. Right.

Young Hollywood

Did you say Tennessee? It sounded like you said.

Lady Antebellum

Intimacy. Intimacy. That's the Nashville version of Intimacy. Intimacy.

Young Hollywood

So the new album, it's a little bit more stripped down. It's a little more mellow. Um how did is that sort of an evolution for you guys? How did that sort of come about?

Lady Antebellum

You know what I I did notice with this record that we did have a lot more mid tempos and and and ballads and I don't know what what that is. For us, we just try to pick what we felt were the strongest songs and it happened to be that. And um.

Young Hollywood

I heard you wrote like 50 songs or something.

Lady Antebellum

We did.

Young Hollywood

How was that and how long was the writing process? It was like two and a half months or something.

Lady Antebellum

Yeah. Well, no, no, we we actually wrote, you know, before Digy now was even out, you know, we're out on the road and started writing for Wow. Wow. But uh but yeah, I mean, when we're out on the road, we love writing. That's kind of our little safe haven and um, you know, way to kind of.

Young Hollywood

So you do write on the road as you're performing.

Lady Antebellum

We do. On stage. I'm writing a song.

Young Hollywood

We have to show the bling. Yes, a little bling. Damn. So do you all have to approve of each other's dates? Is that something that, you know,

Lady Antebellum

We only we all they have to go through a process. It's like a hazing. It's like a college fraternity hazing. And we see if they're expect. Has anybody ever been outsted? Background check. Um, every guy I dated before I got they got finally found my soulmate got pretty much asked. What what we did. But they didn't tell me until afterwards. Yeah, we held our, well, you know, everybody has to kind of find out for themselves but there were a couple I was like, he was a douche but.

Young Hollywood

Well, it's good to have because nobody looks out for girls in LA. It's nice to have some nice natural. I have my brothers looking out for me. Nice. Last question, where are all those Grammys?

Lady Antebellum

Oh, mine are in that room nobody ever walks in. So. My house is really tiny, so it's the only room.

Young Hollywood

You see, this is how I know you're not Hollywood. You haven't bought a big fat house in the hills yet. I got a little 900 square foot condo. Yeah. It's pretty funny this big. Don't let them Don't let them. So you stay true to your roots. He's got he's got a view of the pool. We're all all the, you know, the college girls and and and young Hollywood. Now we know why you haven't moved. hangs out. Now we know.

Lady Antebellum

high rise live maybe.

Young Hollywood

Congratulations on all your success. Pleasure to talk to all of you. Thank you very much.

Lady Antebellum

Thanks so much. Lady Annabellum, Lady Annabellum, Lady Annabellum. You're really good at that. That's good. Really good. You are good. Well, you should be good at your vocal. I'm a lady.
