Young Hollywood

What's going on, Young Hollywood? It's Tony Morris here and we are at Jingle Ball at Staple Center. This place is going crazy. There's a giant Ferris wheel, there's screaming crazy fans all over the place. This is going to be an exciting night. Hi, we're at Jingle Ball with Laura Marano. Yes. Is that Italian?

Laura Marano

That is Italian.

Young Hollywood

Very good. I'm Tony. Well, okay, well there we go. Have you seen Brooklyn?

Laura Marano

Uh, no. It's a really good

Young Hollywood

What is that? Is that a TV show?

Laura Marano

No, it's a movie um and it's about an an Irish immigrant but she falls in love with an Italian guy.

Young Hollywood

I got to see that. I have to see that because I'm Italian.

Laura Marano

It's really sweet. Um promotion for Brooklyn, so.

Young Hollywood

I want to talk about you, not Brooklyn. Yes. Okay. Talk about you. So you are an actress and and and and you also have a a great singing singing career coming out with an album next year.

Laura Marano

Yes. Um yes, and a single in early 2016.

Young Hollywood

Bam Tony, Bam. Bam. Tell me like of the songs that are coming out now, what like really inspires you? What touches you?

Laura Marano

There's a few. Um I have one called Outcast that is really, really good.

Young Hollywood

Wow. From the band from like the group Outcast, or is it just

Laura Marano

No, okay, okay. No, just I have one, I have Outcast. Like, you know, because you could be you could be like Outcast. Yes, it's called Outcast like an outcast. Not like Outcast like "Hey ya, Outcast."

Young Hollywood

Right, right. Clarification. Bam. She's not not.

Laura Marano

I'm I I I could be an outcast sometimes. Are you not? This isn't about me. But I feel like everyone feels like an outcast sometimes. Like sometimes you feel like sometimes you feel like an outcast with the popular kids and an outcast with the outcasts. And then what do you do there? Then you're like the ultimate outcast.

Young Hollywood

I was really popular in high school. So, I I've never I feel that. That's awkward.

Laura Marano

I Well, popular in a good way. I try to be friends with everybody at school. So, I I I they might not thought I was popular, but I thought I was really popular. But I thought that was the same here. I was like, "Oh, I have so many friends."

Young Hollywood

When did you start your Disney show? How old were you when you started?

Laura Marano

I was um 15 turning 16. So, I was 15 when I started.

Young Hollywood

So, what was that? That was like what kind of were high school? Kind of high school?

Laura Marano

No, I went to high school. Which was like an insane experience because I literally didn't sleep. But it was really awesome. So, how it worked is I did the work on set during first semester because I was working. And then second semester we had a hiatus and I could go to school. Stay in school, kids. Stay in school. It may be hard, but stay in school.

Young Hollywood

If you do know Mad Libs are.

Laura Marano

Oh, uh yes.

Young Hollywood

So basically I'm going to I'm going to sing a song with my amazing vocals here. And I'm going to there's going to be a word that you're going to fill in. You're going to fill in the word whatever you would want to fill in the word with.

Laura Marano

Oh, I love it. I like that game. I don't have the song memorized, but I'll try it out here. Okay, ready?

Young Hollywood

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer had a very shiny

Laura Marano

Heart.

Young Hollywood

And if you ever saw it, you would even say it

Laura Marano

start.

Young Hollywood

And all the other reindeer used to laugh and call him uh,

Laura Marano

Johnny.

Young Hollywood

That was his nickname. They never let poor Rudolph play in any reindeer. I think I skipped a verse actually, I'm not going to lie to you. I mean, you're right in front of it. Did you

Laura Marano

I I'm reading and looking at you. It was very difficult to do. You're right.

Young Hollywood

So here at Jingle Ball, it's it's forget this. This game. It went as well as it could go. It went as well as it could go. I I feel that. I was like there. I kept making words that weren't good rhymes. I need to like in front of my face so I can see it and really see like look down.

Laura Marano

Exactly. Look down. But then you look like you're looking down. So that'd be awkward too. Or just yeah. I mean, because it's then you wouldn't look at camera. Anyway, it's fine. Just keep going. We'll we'll delete all of this.

Young Hollywood

Let's just say hypothetically, there was like a mistletoe backstage here at Jingle Ball. Okay. Okay. Uh and like randomly, somebody was walking underneath it. That was maybe performing. It could be a girl or a boy. Who would you like to be under that mistletoe?

Laura Marano

Ooh, you know who I'd like to be under that mistletoe is George Clooney. Is he here tonight?

Young Hollywood

No, but if he were here, that would be great. George, hurry up and get over here to the Jingle Ball. I'm here with Laura Marano. And we'll be looking out. We'll be Young Hollywood will be jamming your songs probably in the office. You have you been to the office? Have you been to the office studio?

Laura Marano

Yes. Oh, I have been to The Office Studio. It is pretty amazing. It is pretty amazing. The couch is great. The couch is great.

Young Hollywood

I actually produce a show called Backstage Diaries. We'll get you on. Okay. Done. It's it's more about the in-depth. It's more about like what, you know, it focuses on like why you're making this. It's more documentary.

Laura Marano

I love that. Let's do that.

Young Hollywood

Tony, see Brooklyn. I'm going to go see Brooklyn. Enjoy your pink pillow. Thank you. Hi Tinashe. How are you? How are you?

Tinashe

Hey. Good.

Young Hollywood

We're with Tinashe here at Jingle Ball. Last time we saw you was for Backstage Diaries. Yep. Yep. We really didn't talk about Player, so we didn't talk about the song you have with Chris Brown right now. Tell me like how was that process? Was it in the studio or were you like was it over the airwaves? You sent some tracks?

Tinashe

Um yeah, it was it was over like the internet basically, which is how basically every collaboration that I've ever done is now.

Young Hollywood

Oh. That was like an outdated question for the people the kids are like, huh.

Tinashe

Yeah. Like you just send it to one another and like he recorded his verse, but I mean we were obviously in the same space and time when we shot the music video, but um Yeah, it was cool to be able to collaborate with him. It was fun.

Young Hollywood

So we're here at Jingle Ball in Los Angeles. You're from LA. I mean, you're Glendale right right around the corner. Did you have you ever been to a Jingle Ball before and like fangirl or fan?

Tinashe

I've never been, but I've always wanted to go. It's like one of those things, you know, like growing up in LA. It's it's like always something you want to go to. And and definitely I've always wanted to perform here. So I'm like can't wait to perform at Jingle Ball. So I'm happy to be here. It's fun.

Young Hollywood

Well, let's keep the Christmas spirit going and I'm going to ask a couple Christmas questions here, Christmas questions. Writing your songs are they naughty or nice?

Tinashe

Hmm I mean it depends on the song. But I

Young Hollywood

You like you prefer. I like I like a little bit naughty myself. You said that to me. You and you said that to me last time because I was like you could easily become you could easily perceive this super nice and super like, you know, look how sweet this person is. But then you like to write about the naughty, which is cool.

Tinashe

Yeah. It's cool. I mean, why not? Everybody has different sides to them, so I like to explore both sides.

Young Hollywood

Explore both sides. Um if the backstage, let's say hypothetically, the people that are performing tonight, uh and there was like, there was just a uh a mistletoe randomly hanging up somewhere. Who would randomly would you like to walk under that mistletoe?

Tinashe

Ooh, I don't know. Who's here that I should want to walk under that mistletoe? Yeah, I need some choices.

Young Hollywood

Like uh there's Zed, the whole the whole cast of Five Seconds of Summer the band, or cast. And the the whole cast and band of One Direction. They're on stage right now. I see them on the little like screen.

Tinashe

Um I don't know. I guess it would probably be one of the One Direction boys. Oh, wow. Watch out, One Direction boys. I'm I'm coming for you. Um so Mistletoe in hand.

Young Hollywood

I love your outfit. I love the outfit that you put together too. Yeah, it's really cool really cool. I love the what do you call this things?

Tinashe

My hoops. The hoops. The hoops. They're like they get a little bit annoying sometimes when you like lift up your shoulder because they're like so big they like hit you in the face, but they're cool. Don't get caught on anything.

Young Hollywood

Yeah. Well, it was a pleasure speaking with you, Tinashe.

Tinashe

Likewise. Thanks. Thanks.

Young Hollywood

And uh look forward to our Backstage Diaries when it comes out.

Tinashe

Absolutely. Can't wait to see it.
