Hey guys, I'm Brandy Chang for Young Hollywood. We're here at the launch of Philosophy's new Uplifting Miracle Worker. They partnered up with Ellen Pompeo and we're sitting down with the Grey's Anatomy star right here. Hi Ellen, how are you?
I'm good, how are you?
I'm so good. First of all, congratulations, Grey's Anatomy.
Thank you.
Incredible run.
It is an incredible run. Had you told me that I would still be doing the show, that it would continue to get better, that it would continue to be more fun for me, I would have never ever believed that in a million years.
Hi Christie, thanks for joining us.
Of course, thank you for having me.
Yeah. So what brings you out tonight?
Well, I heard Philosophy was having a party for the ladies, and it's all about being a cool ager. You know, as I grow and progress with age, everything, I have an appreciation for skin care, and Philosophy has always kind of like stuck out, and I I've actually had the product since I was a teenager. So.
Amazing. That's always a good sign, right?
Yeah, absolutely. I heard we're working miracles here. What's going on here? I think everybody came out here today.
Can you tell us a little bit about your partnership with Philosophy, which is an amazing brand by the way.
It is an amazing brand. And not many brands want to contribute to women's mental health issues. And so when they approached me and asked me to do this, and I heard about the Hope and Grace initiative, I said of course. And I knew instantly who I wanted the money to go to, the Aviva Foundation, which is a local foundation here in Hollywood, who helps at-risk families. I was really moved by the children.
The campaign is called Cool Ager, right? So what is cool to you?
Cool to me is getting older and being okay with it. We absolutely do get better with age. We get wiser, we get more confident.
What's cool to me is knowing oneself. You know, I think having a presence and being confident and uh, and really like, you know, having the knowledge and the presence of life and being free spirited and living in the moment. I think that's super cool.
Do you have any personal beauty philosophies?
I do. I think you have to be happy, number one. And I work out pretty much every day, and I drink a ton of water.
My personal beauty philosophy is hydrate. You know, of course, they're gonna tell you to try to get sleep. Women like us sometimes we're really, really busy. We don't get sleep. So I try to stay hydrated. Um, and when you see a little something, don't be afraid to find something to fix it.
What's your skin care routine?
My skin care routine is, well lately, Philosophy. They have this micro-delivery peel. I wear a lot of makeup every day, uh you know, on set, and it clogs my pores. So the micro-delivery peel is the one product that I've been using over and over. And the sunscreen I've been using when I hike. It's a really good line.
I love talking to other females, especially people that are really highly looked up to about confidence, because it's such an easy thing to say, be confident, and be true to yourself, but how do you find that inner confidence?
I think the inner confidence for someone like myself, I mean, it it runs in my family. I've always been raised and just taught to just be positive, but you know, every now and then we have our days where we feel a little bit like down in the dumps about it, and it's okay to be confident with that. It's fine. We all do. And uh, I think it's just the strength, it's all about what's in your mind.
There's something to be said for like living in the moment and letting life play out, not chasing something, just appreciating what's in front of you. And somehow, it gets better. And I think that that's true for life, it's true for aging, it's true for my time on the show. It's remarkable. It's all unfolded in the most organic, amazing way.
I love that. That's a great philosophy for life. And last question I have for you. It's a very, very hard-hitting question. Have you met Taylor Swift's cat, Dr. Meredith Grey?
I have not. I'm really allergic to cats. So the meeting would be a bit awkward.
