Hey guys, Karyn Salmon with Young Hollywood.
I am so excited to be working with celebrity trainer Gunnar Peterson today.
Let's go get our sweat on.
Come on.
So, please tell us a little bit about your core values, about your philosophy with being healthy.
Uh, I think you take it from uh the moment you get up to the moment you go to bed, but there are going to be some deviations.
So, if you look at having a plan, meaning your workout is mapped out, it's penned in, it's not penciled in, and you make good choices at the table, and you try to get your rest.
Rest and recovery is huge and a lot of people miss out on that.
And as you get closer to your goal, your body would probably benefit more from an extra hour of sleep than it would from an extra mile or an extra set.
He's going to show me some workouts.
So, you guys keep watching.
All right, so here's step two sixty.
I want you to go center foot.
Other leg up, opposite arm up.
You're going to lunge back, but keep your body high.
Get deep on that.
Drive up, hold.
Oh, this is a serious amount of balance.
Drive up, hold.
There's balance, there's stabilization, there's core work, but also working unilaterally, one leg at a time, means both legs get their fair share of the workload.
Okay.
Yes, great.
Great.
Wow.
Everyone can do this one at home.
Like while you're watching your favorite TV show.
Hold.
Now switch up.
Hold it at the top, own it.
Oh, own it.
Nice.
Two times.
One time.
Nice.
That was good.
Rate your heart rate.
Oh my god, it's probably like 210.
Your heart rate's higher than your bar tab right now.
What are you talking about?
I'm a girl, I don't have a bar tab.
You're going to drop down, hold that 90 degrees and then I want you to row.
Row.
Row.
Row.
One, two.
Good.
Stay low.
No toes scrunched up.
You're not speaking to me anymore, are we married?
Where's the background music?
What's happening?
Six, five, four.
Stay tall, stay tall.
Two, drop.
Yes.
That's how we do it.
Don't worry about that, but.
You're gonna go big, long strides, almost as if your foot's going to hit the plate plate and then get this out of the way.
Try and do it without bringing your body up.
You're getting all the hip drive, glute, hamstring, everything.
You're also getting your shoulders and you're going to get a ton of core.
Is this right?
Yep.
Bigger reach with the foot.
Come out almost like you're going to hit the plate.
Almost like you're going to hit the plates.
There it is.
Force that upper body to engage.
Come on core.
Come on bar tab, I mean heart rate.
This is great for my shoulders.
Hold.
So quick feet, slow sled.
Here it comes.
Beautiful.
Yes.
Love it.
Want one for the home?
Wish I had one of these in your driveway.
Doesn't everybody?
All right, I'm going to finish you with a 60 second cardio interval that should level the playing field.
All right.
Okay.
Level the playing field?
What do you mean?
Meaning you're feeling good, you're feeling strong, you're feeling cocky, and this should decimate you.
Awesome.
All right, here we go.
60 seconds.
Slow and easy.
What I'm looking for is somewhere between 80 and 100 feet, which will be your bottom left readout.
Perfect.
All right, coming down.
Okay, so now that I am completely out of breath, and that is exactly what you explained it to be.
I think everybody should have one of those at home.
You just recently partnered with Homedics.
Yes.
Tell me a little bit about that.
Well, um what we talked about at the beginning, a lot of people neglect their rest and their recovery.
Massage is a great way to help the body recover.
Uh your lymph system needs help.
It needs to eliminate toxins, eliminate waste so that your body can get ready for the next bout of exercise, which is going to be what?
Tomorrow?
In like four hours?
There you go.
But a lot of people don't have time to go get a massage.
They don't have, uh they don't want to shell out the money for a massage time and time and time again, and they don't have a place to do it.
So, the Homedics chair massage is everybody's portable massage therapist essentially.
And it works with heat and it has a pulsing and it moves up and down and it's tremendous for recovery and it's a great way to give yourself a little something post-workout.
I mean you can do it anytime, you can do it on days off, you can do it in the evening.
Uh, you can do it at the desk.
You know, it's a great tool, it's a great gift and it's a great thing to have for yourself.
All right guys, thank you for joining us on Young Hollywood.
We just did the Gunnar Peterson workout.
You're amazing.
You dominated it.
I'll feel amazing in about six days.
Let's see.
Four, five, six days.
Feels right.
I'm not going to be able to get out of bed tomorrow, but I appreciate it anyways.
We'll see you guys next time.
