Hey guys, it's Tracy with Young Hollywood. I am here at the 2014 Intour. There are so many fans lining up to see their favorite YouTube and social media stars. How excited is everybody right now? So, who's everyone excited to see? Lo. Jen. Jack and Jack. Yeah. I'm sitting with the one and only, the two and only, Jack and Jack. What's going on?
Not much. Thank you for having us.
Yes, thank you so much. It's a good day, you know, to be alive.
Great day.
Great day to be alive.
So, I mean, first of all, you guys haven't performed yet, but you're going to. There's screaming fans everywhere. What is it like to actually see the fans in person when like, I mean, you talk to them all the time on like YouTube and Vine, but like when you see them in person, is it like a totally crazy experience?
Yeah, I remember the very first time I actually met fans because I didn't even know that we had fans at the time. It was in it was in Dallas.
Oh, yeah? My hometown.
Oh, yeah. So, it was in Dallas at the very first Magcon and I was like, why are we here? This is stupid, like we don't have, yeah, no one's gonna show up, we don't really have fans. We get there and I'm walking to my hotel room and I hear, Jack, oh my God, oh my God, oh my God. I'm like, what? Like what? And then like, can we get a picture? And I'm like, why? And they're like, because I want a picture with you. And I'm like, why would you want a picture with me? And then like, I mean, like I finally got over it and I accepted the fact that I had fans. To answer your question, it is awesome seeing fans in in person. It's definitely a whole different experience. There's like just tons of action and like, you would never imagine, you know, like starting out just making videos and then all of a sudden just a huge crowd in front of you. And it's just it's crazy to think about, but it finally, you know, it's here. And so I like that connection between the fans, you know, because it it really makes them happy.
What's up, Jack? Not much. I'm here at Intour.
So, we were just talking about that. You opened the show. You opened the tour today.
I just got done opening it on stage. A little nervous, but the energy in the crowd was crazy, so it was a lot of fun. It's like deafening screams in there. I mean, it's it's pretty insane. It's pretty loud. People can scream pretty pretty loud, I mean.
I mean, I'm sure there's been crazy experiences, but what's the craziest fan encounter you've had?
The craziest fan encounter, I was actually I went uh to DigiTour in uh London and we went to Paris afterwards. And I walked to the Eiffel Tower and I came back and I noticed like one girl like noticed me real quick and she asked for a picture, you know. But the next day, I woke up and outside my hotel was like 50 girls like in the lobby just waiting for me and I was just like,
You must feel pretty awesome when that happens, right?
I felt like a boss there.
But I know you met one in kindergarten. Is that right? Kindergarten. There's a good story, I feel like, with this, right? You just like,
It's a great story. Uh, we show up to kindergarten. Very first day and I see this kid and I'm I'm like, that kid's got my shirt on. We're wearing the same shirt, that's not cool. So, I walk up to him.
Seriously? No, stop. It was cool. I was like, no way, we have the same shirt, we're gonna be friends forever before he even knows my name. So, I walk up to him and I'm like, hey, um, I'm Jack, I like your shirt, we have the same shirt. He's like, this is like, by the way, I'm making up this conversation. I have no idea how it actually went. But I'm assuming because I know we have
You filmed that.
Very first day, it was picture day.
You probably didn't have Vine at that point.
Exactly, right? We could have started right then. No, so we were like, we realized we had the same shirt on, we're like, oh my God, we're best friends. And then we realized we had the same name and it was like, oh my God, like, this is destiny, like, we can't not be best friends. And so, ever since then, we've been chilling.
And your two signature phrases, do them do them right now because if you don't know them, you'll know them right now.
Mhm. And uh, freak. So there you go.
What is freak? Did you just come up with that or like, what is that?
Yeah, cuz I'm a very like PG kind of person like on, you know, my social media sites, oh and and in person. But um, I just made that word up, you know, oh, I didn't really make it up like it's just it's just freak.
How long does it actually take you to I mean, it's six seconds, but does it take you a while or like, what do you think?
You know, it really varies how long it takes to make a Vine. If we already have an idea, you know, we can maybe whip it out in like five minutes. But if we have to like start from scratch with no idea, like brainstorm, if we have to edit the Vine like add slow motion on the computer and stuff, it might take longer upwards of like an hour, an hour and a half. So, you know, it it just depends on the day, I guess.
Yeah.
What what's the key to actually being successful? Like, how do you stand out?
Honestly, we were we were just ourselves and and and we believed in ourselves and and that's where
Don't do something like you wouldn't do just to like gain followers. Like they'll they'll come naturally if you just like are yourself. And like if you have a good personality, it'll happen over time. And don't ever try to like force anything, I think.
A few things that I did, I guess I just made a lot of friends on YouTube. It helps a lot because you have two audiences or four audiences when you're like surrounding yourself with other YouTubers. Um, you can collab a lot, which also helps, it's a lot of fun. It's fun for you to like relate to other YouTubers and your viewers see another YouTuber in your video and stuff. One of the things that I do is I make weekly videos. So it helps when you have a schedule and you're persistent because then when you do get viewers, they get into your routine. So, I I think those would be like two of my tips, friends and consistency.
Uh, you just have to be yourself and then um, also you have to be consistent with your like content you put out. So you just, you know, can't put a YouTube video out and then three months later put another one out. You you want to keep on creating content and just be yourself and, you know, have a good time doing it.
