How should people handle Bridezillas?

Rebecca Blooms Wedding Dos

I mean, I think I would just cut them off at the knees. I mean like don't let it start. Have a drink before you walk down the aisle. I would suggest don't get drunk at a relative's wedding. I mean, I can put myself back into that. You're so nervous, but I think a glass of champagne. Perfect.

Young Hollywood

Welcome to Young Hollywood. Kinsey here with Young Hollywood. We are at Urbanic Paper Boutique in Venice, California. Sitting down with author Rebecca Bloom. We are in Urbanic Paper Boutique in the bridal lounge. I'm with author Rebecca Bloom of Eat, Drink, and Be Married. I'm so excited to have you here today.

Rebecca Blooms Wedding Dos

Thank you so much. Thank you. This is exciting and it's a perfect place to talk about a book about a wedding.

Young Hollywood

I know. Okay, so can you tell me a little bit about Urbanic Paper Boutique and, and, you know, do you hang out around Venice a lot?

Rebecca Blooms Wedding Dos

I do. I live in the neighborhood and it's one of those stores in the neighborhood that always has great stuff and I think sort of like writing books, actually, it's sort of celebrating a art that maybe is dying, sort of correspondence and actually using your hands to write instead of your fingers to type.

Young Hollywood

So, you've you've got Eat, Drink, and Be Married. Are you in your element right now? Are do you love weddings?

Rebecca Blooms Wedding Dos

I don't know if I love weddings, but I kind of love what weddings kind of bring up for everybody that goes to the weddings, which was sort of the inspiration for the book. So, but I do like kind of all the stuff of weddings.

Young Hollywood

You actually um, started writing just journaling and that became your first book. How has that transitioned with Eat, Drink, and Be Married?

Rebecca Blooms Wedding Dos

Um, well, sort of the my second book Tangled Up in Daydreams, I started really doing third person. And so this now was third person and then capturing four different voices and four different characters. So, I guess that was sort of the evolution from me to many.

Young Hollywood

I think if you look at this um, cover and you you look at the book, you automatically assume that it's kind of like a love story or it's a bridezilla story, but it's actually about girlfriends. Why do you think, I think that these girls are obviously very sweet, but in real life, girls are very mean to each other. Do you know why that is? Do you have any thoughts? Thoughts on mean girls?

Rebecca Blooms Wedding Dos

I don't know. Um, I think that we're all a little bit jealous maybe of each other. And it's kind of funny because I purposely chose not to do that in my book because it's not how my closest girlfriends and I are. But I do think weddings bring out the meanest parts of girls sometimes and sort of what they make their friends wear because they want, you know, they don't want them to outshine them with those hideous bridesmaid dresses. So, there's a lot of possibility for meanness and I kind of didn't want to do that because ultimately, you want everybody to feel beautiful and have a great time at your wedding because then it makes it more fun for everybody else.

Young Hollywood

How should people handle Bridezillas? Like, is there a is there a way to deal with somebody that is just completely out of control?

Rebecca Blooms Wedding Dos

I mean, I think I would just cut them off at the knees. I mean like don't let it start, you know, I think be as pleasant as a bride, I think be as pleasant as you can be to everybody because it is a big thing you're asking people to do. It's especially destination weddings, it certainly isn't cheap.

Young Hollywood

Do you have any wedding don'ts?

Rebecca Blooms Wedding Dos

I would suggest don't get drunk at a relative's wedding. That's what I would suggest.

Young Hollywood

But that could be so fun. You've not you've not been with me at a relative's wedding. And I was going to say as a good thing is like have a drink before you walk down the aisle.

Young Hollywood

Oh, really? You suggest the bride?

Rebecca Blooms Wedding Dos

We had we toasted. Yes.

Young Hollywood

Oh how fun. I love that.

Rebecca Blooms Wedding Dos

Yeah, cuz that's like such a it's like such a nervous moment. I just I mean I can put myself back into that. You're so nervous, but I think a glass of champagne, perfect.

Young Hollywood

This is actually a good tip that someone told us at our rehearsal dinner that we decided to do, was they said don't ever let go of your husband's hand at your wedding because you want to be able to experience it as a couple. What about music? What are you listening to to get you going, get you started?

Rebecca Blooms Wedding Dos

Lately, in all honesty, I've been listening to like Scooby-Doo and the Superman theme and the Muppets because my son has like taken over our music selection.

Young Hollywood

Oh yes. I'm totally familiar with all of that. What's next for Rebecca Bloom?

Rebecca Blooms Wedding Dos

Who, I don't know. I think I mean I would like to write another book. We'll see. It's hard to catch, you know, two hours of time without being interrupted by a little voice, but uh maybe have more babies. I don't know.

Young Hollywood

Babies are great. I love babies. As long as they're your babies. I will cuddle and spoon them all day long. I used to think that way too before I had my own. And but once you have them they're it's amazing.
