Adam Carolla, who is is it would you call this your man cave?
My man cave's my rear end. This is a different space all together. Got it. What do you, your studio? How's that?
Oh, yeah. Yeah, that works, that works. Yeah. I feel very powerful.
Oh you do?
I do. I love it in here. This is um, this is Grand Central Station. This is this is where the magic happens, our show. It is.
Do you get a sense of power when you sit behind this thing, or you just, you know, at this point?
No, I don't get a sense of power out of anything. I I but I I think it's good. I was saying to somebody the other day that it is mine. But I don't have an office, 'cause I don't really need one and they need one more than I do, and I'm in and out all the time and I'm traveling and everything, so. But I don't get a sense of power. I think if I got a sense of power, I would have an office.
I think you just need a big fuzzy mic. That gives me that gives me that, you know.
Big Fuzzy Mike was my gay porn name. I was what they call a bear. I was heavier set when I was younger and before they had all these laser treatments.
You got a lot of fabulous pictures on the wall of from your various years in the entertainment business.
Things that I'm uh, proud of. I got uh, me and Jimmy Kimmel over here and uh, Man Show seasons, whatever. Listen, you got me showing his chest here, that's it. Yeah.
You were, wait, you talked about being hairier, you remember that? I told you when I did that. And now here's the proof.
You know, it's a different career. Uh, I have uh, my uh, New York Times best seller books over here, which
That's got to feel good though, right?
Yeah, whatever. You know, everything feels good momentarily, then I'm back to disgruntled. Um, but
Should we talk about your film?
Yeah. Road Hard, not Hard Road. Mm-mm. Road Hard. Hey! There he is. It's my man. You come to work on the Jack Taylor Show. Co-host. Audience warm-up guy.
You want me to be your fluffer, Jack? I'd rather kill myself. Who wants jelly belly? How did you become a stand-up?
Same way every comedian gets into stand-up. You fuck up in high school, and at some point, you wake up and you realize, I have one skill is making people laugh.
And now that you've lost that. I mean, first of all, why was it why was it sort of flipped? Road Hard instead of Hard Road? Mm.
Um, I I cannot tell you uh, how my brain works. And neither can anyone else. You know, when it comes to sort of titles of things or ideas for things, it's just something will pop into my head. And when it pops into my head, I I do believe in the sort of purity of a first instinct, you know. You never get a second chance at a first impulse or a first impression, and you never get a second chance at a first instinct either. So, to me, I'm very intuitive or lazy, depending on how you want to look at it, but when I was making this movie about stand-up comics and about the road and about how hard it was to be out on the road, and I just thought about Road Hard and sort of put away wet, you know, and I just thought that that's the title. It's Road Hard. It's about it's sort of both. It's how hard the road is and how hard this guy's being ridden.
What do we got going in here? Oh, a hearing impaired. This guy's not cracked a smile the whole night. Why isn't he laughing? I can't make you funny. And Brian Cranston did a promo for this film with you.
Yeah.
Which was kind of adorable. Oh, co-starring in a movie with Brian Cranston. I mean, that is awesome. Wait a minute. You No, no. I'd be happy to help you hear doing this, raising the money for it, but I can't be I can't be in the movie with you. What What. When I When I saw Road Hard. Why don't you call your buddy Kimmel and get Matt Damon's number or something? That must be weird for you, huh? Kimmel's now the new King of Late Night and you're still doing a podcast.
You know the real problem is, the problem is, I wrote all of those jokes. But he's so good, everyone thinks it comes off the top of his head. And I said, is it improv?
Head. And then this is from your stand-up and Man Show.
Yeah, I get a lot of stuff and I get it and I just hang it up. This is um, this is the trophy you get for first place uh, in the celebrity and this is the first place in the professional.
I love that yeah, it says first place celebrity. It's kind of like first celebrity you got first place, but oh, hello. First place professional. Yeah, that's good. I'm I'm proud of that one. That's great.
This, I I I am very proud of too, because that's uh, my last movie was uh, Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. So that means it's good, right? It's good. It's cool 'cause you have to have like a certain score and have a certain amount and uh, Yeah. you know, major critics and a certain amount and whatever. You have to be a certain percentage criteria. So, it's good.
And do you have a dream guest to sort of appear on your podcast, here on your show? You see, right there. Oh, stop. Oh, stop. You already got me, you already got me. He's supposed to play hard to get. Oh, yeah. Um. That's right. But for real. But for real, 'cause I know. Honestly, you know, for me, it's like, I want to talk to Albert Brooks. Um, but for the people listening, I want to think who their dream guest is 'cause my dream guest is Graham Parker. Do you know who Graham Parker is? Ah, you know the last one. You don't know who. That's my whole point. Forget about my dream guest. I want to think of like, who's the audience's dream guest?
Jay-Z and Beyoncé.
That would be mine. No, no, no. Not That would be mine, but yeah, I get I get what you're saying. A good guest. A good guest. A good guest. That's what you mean. Yeah. I don't want to talk to Justin Bieber. But maybe people listening want to hear what he has to say. Right.
What would you ask Justin Bieber? Um, I want to know a lot about the uh, Calvin Klein ads and just was it one sock drawer that he stuffed in there or multiple sock drawers that he stuffed in there. Does he got, is it about just one bureau or we talking about multiple?
Yeah. Those are good questions. Manny Pacquiao was in here.
Mhm.
And I know you were boxing trainer.
Yes.
And I actually was in the ring with Freddy Roach and Manny, and Freddy gave me a mini boxing lesson.
Mhm.
And I want to see I want to compare. I put on the focus pads and you put on the gloves.
Mhm.
You want me to be better? You think I can do it better than Freddy Roach?
I want to see. I'm gonna coach you up and make you better in five minutes than Freddy Roach did. You're on. You want to get your stance?
Well, what's that? I forget. It was a while ago.
Oh, okay. So, you didn't done You've done nothing. So, all right, this not a stance. Okay. This is you getting arrested. This is, yeah, there you go. Okay, good. Here you are up. Here you are down.
Oh, got it. Just Okay.
And you're gonna drive through this foot, through this hip and out that shoulder. Good, good, good.
That felt good. Yeah. Get comfortable on your feet. Bang. Now I'm just excited to be here. Snap. I mean, you know, all right, it wasn't excellent, but it was fair enough. Good. Bang, wait. Turn hip. Feel the weight, turn the hip. Oh, that was good. Good one right there. One more. Snap that feel the weight. All right, now picture the face of that Gemini ex-wife you used to date.
Oh, that's the best one so far.
