Hey guys, Leslie Robbins here for Young Hollywood at the 8th Annual George Lopez Celebrity Golf Classic. I am outside the GBK gifting suites and I am with the celebrities/golfers right before they tee off.
George, I've interviewed you across the country. Usually baseball is the subject. Now we're doing a little golf.
Well, you know, baseball's a good subject, you know, I think my team, the Dodgers might win the World Series this year. That would be amazing. They haven't won since '88.
Ready to rock it out there?
I'm ready. I'm I'm well, hopefully the course is ready. I'm ready.
I just wanted to support my man because the George Lopez Foundation, it does such incredible work and it's a diverse foundation. His foundation does stuff for veterans, for underprivileged kids, for poor families, and I love that.
How's your golf game?
Golf game's okay. It's just okay. This is a good charity and it's a good tournament. George throws a good party.
Young Hollywood. It's really funny.
Well, you are Young Hollywood. I mean, lots of young people and old people watch Breaking Bad. I mean, you gotta give it to the young crowd. That's true. I'm I'm I'm an old young guy.
Well, you're raising the bar on golf attire, my friend. Let's take a look at this.
Well, you know, it's it's just about, you know, looking, looking the part. That's half the battle. You know, you get in their their psyche in their mind and they're like, "Oh, hell. He looks like he can golf." So, let me not bet him. You know, I take it off. Yeah. It might as well. I'll give you a nice little reveal. Golf attire. Bangin'.
Yeah, I don't know, uh, what this is. I like to wear different things sometimes and uh, this is what came to mind.
You look the part, my friend.
Thank you. Uh, my wife was gonna throw those curtains away anyway. So we figured, you know, we'll make some pants out of 'em. When I got out of the car, Don Cheadle said, "You must love George 'cause you can't golf with a pocket square." And I was like, "Oh, hell."
So, how is your golf game? You look the part, by the way.
Oh, thank you very much. I think that's more important than anything. Uh, no, I'm I'm, you know, I'm good. I'm playing to about a 10 right now, so we should we should have fun.
Gavin, the man behind GBK, stunning backdrop to show off your gifts.
Yeah, you know, this is the seventh year we've come out to support George's Foundation and everything from golf clubs to candles to golf bag.
So, do you have a memorable moment that comes to mind uh a celebrity in the gifting suite?
Well, here last year, they were actually putting shaving cream on each other's head, you know, and starting to shave each other. That was certainly, you know, fun and exciting. I probably could get Anthony Anderson to do that. I think he would do that.
Arnold Palmer has his own drink. Yes. You get to make your own drink, named after you. What's going in it?
Uh, your big toe, uh, for flavor. And we're gonna call it uh, The Stiff Rod.
I'm not into alcohol. I don't drink much alcohol anymore, but it'd have to have something to do with ginger beer. It would have vodka. It would have uh, cranberry juice. And it would have, um, I don't want to say eggs.
Eggs. What, you Rocky?
Don't I look like him?
Why am I laughing? Yeah. Just keep it going though. If you can have your own drink named after you, what is it?
It's uh, it's a Silver Patrón Margarita with uh, on the rocks with salt and uh, because I'm a uh, Mexican, a little uh, seasoning powder on top of it.
It would have tequila, for sure, right? Really good tequila. And it would have uh, lemonade and it would have tea.
Oh, wait a minute. The Stiff Rod. It's hot in here. I think that's a song.
Yeah. Okay. Make it a song and a drink.
Everybody throw up your stiff rods.
Okay, if you can pick anyone alive or dead to caddy with you, who's it gonna be?
To caddy for me? That's a good question. That could be your hook. That could be like Oprah's special question or Barbara Walters' special question. Alive or dead to be my caddy. I don't know. That's tough. Where do you get these questions from? Jesus.
Yeah, to to have Jesus as your caddy. How's that?
Wow. What what would you talk about? You got like all the time in the world. I know. Well, I'll come up with a few questions. We'll see what happens. I think that'd be sweet, huh?
I think you'd let you win, right?
Well, we don't know. It's supposed better to give than receive.
Well, this is gonna seem crazy, but there's this woman that was on Vegas. She played Dan Tan's assistant, Phyllis Davis. My cousin, Marichita. Wow.
Alive or dead? Tiger. That's that's real easy. First of all, you don't wanna insult nobody and say, "Oh, I'd like it to be Malcolm X and uh I could walk along the golf course and talk to him about civil rights and and the world." And then people would say, "You don't want Malcolm to be your caddy? That's disrespectful." So, so you can't just choose someone you wanna meet or be around. You have to choose someone that becomes politically correct in a caddy situation. I guess it would have to be you.
Whoa.
Does that answer the question?
Done and done. Okay, there we go.
Uh, I'm gonna go with Jay Leno. He can't golf either. You're funnier, dude. But he's a wonderful guy to talk to. Like like say for instance, if we were standing here and he was my caddy instead of you, I would whip him around and say, "Tell me about that car." And he would tell me all kind of great interesting things, right?
Okay. So, how do you hold a golf club? I have one behind me. You wanna show me what you got?
This is a putter.
You're the second one to correct me on that. See, I don't know anything.
Technically it is a golf club, but it's actually the putter. So, you know, you you most people, you know, you there's several different grips. I use a little overlap, regular overlap. Right grip. You you know, you get the claw and all that, but you know, I just interlock my fingers right here. My strategy today is just to uh, keep it down the middle. And then um, hit it side to side. You never wanna break your wrists. You never wanna break your wrists on the putt.
My handicap is driving into the parking lot. Um, but uh, and that's what golf is. Golf is a game that I don't think anybody's really good at. Uh they say they are, but then they go the next day and then they don't impress me at all.
What's your strategy before you tee off?
Cheat. What else?
Now, I couldn't help but remember you saying that you can't play golf with your little pocket square. Does that mean Does that mean your golf game sucks?
You know what? My golf game is worse than sucks. It's worse than that, baby. I don't have one. I am one of those guys that left the ghetto of Cleveland, but the ghetto of Cleveland is still in me. I don't even know what lawn looks like. You know? They can already take me out and show me what grass is. Now now I got to grip the thing though. Just to show.
That's okay, baby. I'll show you how to grip the club. Ride with me and grip my club while we play. It's all good.
It's like 8:00 in the morning and we're already getting dirty.
Well, it's 8:00 in the evening someplace. So we're late. I'll make you a promise. I'm gonna learn. So next year I can not only come and support the foundation and caddy for a white man, but I'm gonna learn to golf. And I'm gonna be involved like Samuel Jackson and and and everybody else.
Uh oh. I'm your light man.
Oh my God, you know what? Thank God Stevie Wonder don't need those. I'm your I'm his caddy, by the way. Yes. Yes. This is my caddy. We just gonna ride around like We're I'm white too. I wanna be the caddy. What you think?
Oh, she's a lot prettier than I am. Bye-bye.
