Clayton Kershaw, we're here for the third time, three years in a row, for your annual ping pong tournament. Feels great to be back.
Yeah, it'll be fun, you know, it's uh, every year it gets bigger and bigger and uh, just a huge thanks to everybody that comes out and, you know, puts this thing on.
Talk about how it feels to have so much support from the players, celebrities, everyone.
Yeah, it's it's so cool, you know. It really uh, it's something that I never thought would happen obviously and uh, we had the idea a few years back and uh, to what it's turned into now has been uh, it's just uh, it really is, it's overwhelming. It's pretty cool.
Now, take me back to the beginning. You and your wife go to Zambia. You wanna help, you wanna start a charity, and now this.
Yeah, I mean, we uh, it just started with one little girl named Hope and uh, it's turned into where we are now and hopefully we get to raise a lot of money for her.
Now you always dress the part for this event. Look as ridiculous as possible. If you can pick a teammate to be your partner, who would it be?
Partner tonight, um, maybe Vance Lick. I might do Vance Lick as my partner. If I were I don't think I get to pick. I think he's playing with Eric Stonestreet tonight but I think Slikey would've been my guy.
Okay, speaking of Eric, you guys had a hilarious funnier die video last year. Clayton, your skill level, I think you need what's called a starter paddle. Okay? We're gonna start you here, work you down from there. My arm's starting to burn a little. Mental game. You want to get inside your opponent's head by insulting them. For example. Hey Clayton, your ping pong is about as good as your hitting.
Yeah, that hurt a little bit. Can you try one? Uh Eric, that shirt's not really your color. I mean, not my color.
And then this year your promo for the ping pong tournament was hilarious. You've done the Subway commercial. The camera loves you. I mean, you're in the right town. What do you think? Hollywood calling?
Uh, no, you know, I'm pretty I'm a lot more comfortable on the baseball field. I'll probably stick with that, but you know, if it's for a good cause or something like this for our charity, uh, you know, it's it's fun to do funny things like that for sure. And uh with Eric and Jimmy and different guys, it's uh, it's been really cool to get to work with them.
LeBron James did it. He, you know, became All-Star. He's a major, now he's in a movie. I think you got it.
Yeah, I'll probably pass but thanks. Appreciate it. Yeah.
Now tell me how the charity has evolved from beginning to now.
Uh, well yeah, just different different beneficiaries every year. We've obviously we've gotten to raise a lot more money each and every year, which has been awesome. And uh the different people that have come alongside of us to help us out. It's uh something that we, I mean, it's just grown more than we could have ever expected. So uh, it's just uh it's just pretty awesome.
I mean, you do good off the field, you do amazing on the field. Three-time Cy Young Award winner. How do you maintain it? How do you keep going and you're still so young, it's amazing.
Uh, we have an amazing group of people, uh, from the the people that work at Kershaw's Challenge to the people that come alongside and help with these events, uh, you know, my wife. It's just uh, it's just amazing the the group that we have that are so passionate about the things we are.
And talk about your clubhouse, just the support from the guys.
It's awesome. You know, it's their off night at home. They we don't get very many of these. So for them to come out like this on a night and uh support us is is really really special.
Now we're at Dodger Stadium. We have the entire stadium to ourselves just for you. Tell me some of your fondest memories in this park.
Uh, winning. Yeah, winning's fun. So every win is celebrated, that's for sure.
And what do you do to win? What's your hidden game plan to win?
No hidden game plan, just trying to win. Yeah, whatever it takes.
