Why You Should Watch "Wipeout"

In a candid conversation with a TV exec about guilty pleasures, they called "Wipeout" a show that appeals to the "lowest common denominator."

Disagree. This show is one of the funniest things I have EVER SEEN. It’s full of win!

Do you like face plants? Are you a fan of shots to the groin? Do you delight in watching epic falls and brutal body slams? Then this is your show. Have a seat next to me on the couch.

The premise is simple enough: lovingly destroy people. "Wipeout" takes average Americans from everyday obscurity and grants them the opportunity to have a brief moment of glory by knocking the crap out of them on national TV.

Each contestant is presented with the same physical challenge, which is to make it through a comically gigantic, padded obstacle course that’s suspended over water. To complete the challenge, they must run through spinning wheels, jump over hurdles, bounce off objects (including ridiculously oversized balls), avoid moving walls, etc.

With commentary including remarks such as "she’s like a gymnast wrapped in an acrobat who swallowed a stunt man," the show provides something for the thinking man.

Lowest common denominator? More like the funniest common denominator!
