Self-styled "avant-garde" indie group, Architecture in Helsinki, has taken a page out of David Byrne's book and brought it colorfully into the New Millennium. Band members Cameron Bird, Gus Franklin, Jamie Mildren, Sam Perry, and Kellie Sutherland take turn on vocals and play multiple instruments, making them a true collaboration. They've been touring extensively the last decade, performing with the likes of Deathcab for Cutie and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. Both their music and their videos are a delightful throwback, reminiscent of the bubbly synth pop of the 80's. A little bit of Talking Heads, a dash of The Go-Go's, and a big heaping handful of ALL THEIR OWN.
Charmingly low-budg and infectious. Sort of has a "Willy Wonka" feel to it, no?
Look out, Claymation, because here comes... Sewmation?? A moving needlepoint, folks. GENIUS.
Just dance, y'all. And BE HAPPY!!!
