Some quirky comedy for your viewing pleasure.
-Kanye West "Can't Tell Me Nothing"-
This is pure gold. Say what you will about Kanye, this was his idea so he must have some likable qualities. Not so fast""this is merely an alternate video for the song, the original features Kanye almost exclusively. Do you really think he'd make a video in which he's not included? Now that's just silly, he's way too in love with himself to ever do such a thing. The video came about after Kanye saw Zach Galifianakis perform some standup and shortly thereafter contacted him to ask if he would perform in a video for his song. Zach agreed and the video was shot on his farm in North Carolina. However, Zach was given no direction as far as what to do for the video, so the whole concept was a product of his own genius. A true treat.
-The Presets "If I Know You"-
So what's the deal here? Is his body so overcome with the music when that beat starts up he just can't help himself? Interpretive dance? Whatever it is, I'm into it. Oddly enough, if you saw these kids twirling and skipping around like that on Hollywood Blvd., you wouldn't find it the least bit strange. I kind of wish people actually danced like that around LA in broad daylight.
-Pulp "Bad Cover Version"- I find this most amusing. It's fun to watch who will be impersonated next and some of them bear uncanny resemblances to the real thing. It's a pretty simple concept but I'm impressed that they were able to track down all these doppelgangers. How did they find them? And where did they come from? Are they all those people who make a living from looking like someone famous? The Bjork one cracks me up just because I think she's ridiculous. Her Impersonator does a pretty solid job, although she doesn't quite capture the level of bizarreness, but who can? I mean, it's Bjork, so "˜A' for effort. A few other thoughts I'd like to throw out there into the world: a) I miss the "˜Jenny from the Block' J. Lo and wish she'd still embrace her mami chula; b) does Mick Jagger have a twin? c) pseudo-David Bowie's voice is scarily similar; d) I kind of love that they chose to include George Michael and hope you do too.
