Star Wars Augmented Reality Experience Coming on Force Friday!
Written by Katie Marzullo

Move over, Pokémon Go, there’s a new augmented reality experience set to sweep the Galaxy!

Disney and Lucasfilm have just announced Force Friday II, taking place next Friday, September 1 (and lasting through the weekend), which will include a global augmented reality event, as well as the launch of a new product line for the upcoming second chapter in the new Star Wars trilogy, The Last Jedi!

It’s no secret that Star Wars is a worldwide phenomenon that transcends age and nerd preferences, and it’s also no secret that both hardcore and casual fans alike love to immerse themselves into the SW universe – which is why Disney is spending bazillions of dollars expanding their theme parks to include Star Wars lands and resorts. But that’s at least a couple years away. No doubt they saw the HUGE success of the Pokémon Go app last year and decided to put a Star Wars spin on it, and here we are!

It works like this: download the Star Wars app to your phone (fair warning: you need to create a Star Wars AND Disney account to activate), then visit one of the many participating locations (including the Disney Store, Gamestop, Petco, Staples, Target, and many more) and look for the FIND THE FORCE logo on Star Wars graphics. Scan the logo to unlock characters and other goodies you can collect and interact with!

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE! Share photos and videos of your AR experiences on Twitter or Instagram using the hastags #FINDTHEFORCE and #SWEEPSTAKES to automatically be entered for a chance to win a trip to the Star Wars: The Last Jedi world premiere and a tour of Lucasfilm headquarters in San Francisco!

If you wanna get started now, visit starwars.com/findtheforce right now to unlock your first AR character – I already did, but I won’t give it away!

Good luck, and may the Force be with you in your AR adventures!
