M.I.A. has been on my radar for years because of a good friend of mine who introduced me to her music. She's kind of blown up since then.

I like a little of everything, so my faves are those who mix it up and shake a bunch of different shizz together. That's so M.I.A.!

Light, wispy pop music is two tons of fun, but you'll get so much deeper with this girl. Her eclectic style pulls you in with various musical genres and lyrics that address everything from politics to social realism. Somehow, she manages to pull off humor and a deeper message at the same time.

Paper Planes, M.I.A.'s hit busting out all over the airwaves right now, is described as satire about people who appear threatening but are really not so. Gunshots and cash registers ringing over the lyric all I wanna do is ... take your money in the chorus leaves the song open to interpretation.

However she may strike you, she just keeps picking up speed. For those just getting to knew her from Paper Planes, the song is off her second album, Kala. The first, Arular, hit the streets in 2005. Catch it!
