She's beautiful, eclectic, creative, and sings like a dream. Lily Allen, a gem from the UK has officially taken the U.S. by storm. Destined for Stardom, Lily Allen was born May 2, 1985 in Hammersmith, London. Her family was already deep in the bizù as her father and mother were both film producers, which ultimately sparked Lily's desire to act. In 1988, at the itty bitty age of three, Lily appeared on The Comic Strip Presents episode, The Yob,ù a comedic piece her father had co-written. Talk about breaking into the industry early! Allen made her big screen debut playing a lady-in-waitingù in the 1998 film, Elizabeth, produced by her mother. Appears that Lily was quite the inspiration to her talented parents! Being the artsy character that Lily claims to be, she thought it was time to move on to other ventures; being creative herself. Vocally challenging herself was next on the Brit beauty's to doù list. November 2005, marked the beginning of Lily road to success in the music world. She began posting demo songs on her MySpace page. Needless to say, Lily received the positive attention she had hoped for and was soon given more creative authority from her label, Regal Records whom she had signed with in early 2005. With the credibility Lily had earned on her own, the sky was the limit. Her debut album, Alright, Still,ù was released on July 3, 2006. Entertainment Weekly dubbed the debut album as one of the top 10 albums of 2006, although the album had only been released in the UK and was yet to hit the U.S. fan base. January 30, 2006, marked the day when the U.S. got its first official taste of Lily Allen. Her single, Smile,ù was the first released, and was a huge hit on iTunes. After playing in New York City, America grew fond of her unique sound, and even more eclectic style. Lily started showing up to events in cocktail dresses and sneakers; a style too easy to frown upon, but somehow, Lily made it work and we loved her for it. Lily is currently working on a second album, which she doesn't plan on rushing,ù as she feels, many artists make the mistake of doing, and ultimately end up producing a flop. Good thinking, Lily!
