DO schmear if you want it snappy. No, I'm not talking about cream cheese. I'm talking about greasing those who have the power to make things in your life easier or more accessible. Did you see the episode from the last season of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" where Larry slips the maitre d' a $20 each time he goes to the restaurant, and in turn is always seated right away at a great table regardless of how long the wait is? That's the beauty of schmearing. I know we're all pinching pennies these days but a little green goes a long way. For instance, whenever there's an issue with my car and I need to bring it into the dealership's service department, I don't need an appointment and get helped right away by my guy. This is because I always leave him an envelope with a little "˜Thank You' note and a $20 inside (thanks for the tip, David!). I know it might seem a little unfair or corrupt but let's get real, this is 2010""there are far worse injustices in this world. A little schmear never hurt anyone. As illogical as it sounds, schmearing can actually save you some chedda'. If you get your hair cut or colored more frequently than the average person, a good schmearing of your stylist could buy you an off-the-books, special discount rate, not to mention sudden openings in their schedule when you want to see them last minute. Believe in the power of schmearage. Do schmear.
