Deep down inside many want to be dancers, but only few individuals are blessed with having phenomenal talent. The exceptional dancer is in high demand but not compensated equitably by the entertainment industry. Dancing is a Catch 22. Dancers rarely receive credit for their hard work and only those with dedication stick it out. The quandary of pay is widespread but the passion of a true dancer will eventually lead them to reparation. Dancers are underdogs but they will shine. At the age of 24, dancer and choreographer, Columbus Short has made his mark in the entertainment industry. His electric smile is monopolizing magazine covers, talk show hosts desire his presence, and ladies drool over his hot body. It has taken years of commitment, but sure enough Columbus has danced his way to stardom. You may have not noticed Columbus prior to 2007, but he existed. Having moved to Los Angeles at the age of 5, he got the Hollywood bug early. Columbus describes dance to be the visual personification of music interpreted through movement. Dance was his art form and dedication has lead him to success. In 2004, Columbus was nominated for the American Choreographer Award for Britney Spears in the Zone Tour. After his nomination, Columbus' face still was not known to the general public, but in the dance world he was already a legend. The small taste of success increased Columbus' work ethic and he began to book jobs back to back. With the dance world in his back pocket, Columbus ventured into acting. From the small screen to the big screen, there was no challenge that Columbus could not handle. On January 12, Columbus combined his talents of dance and acting and starred in the top charting film, Stomp the Yard. Alongside, renowned artists Ne-Yo, Chris Brown, Meagan Good, and Darren Henson, Columbus held his own. Starring as DJ, a fast talking, trouble maker from LA, Columbus scored the hearts of millions through the embodiment of his character. The word on the street and the man to beat is Columbus Short. His tremendous work ethic prophesize his success to be preordained. From starring in Stomp the Yard to reoccurring roles in Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Columbus has his hands full. Keep an eye out for this underdog, because the sky is his limit.
