Is there anyone today who can actually say that they don't remember Chris Kattan's inane dance moves in A Night at the Roxbury? One only needs to watch the movie once, until they themselves try to emulate his character's effortless dorkiness, which can only be attributed to Chris' impeccable comedic delivery. He's the quick-witted Saturday Night Live player who is most notably recognized for his impressions of Antonio Banderas, Al Pacino and Ricky Martin, as well as his zany characterizations as Mango and Mr. Peepers on SNL.Though he was raised far away from the LA scene, some would say that he was simply born to entertain, just like his biological father, Kip King. Chris was born in Sherman Oaks, California but was raised in Seattle with his mother and step father, Marc Joslyn.Chris has been known to say that his father, Kip has always been an incredibly supportive figure in his life and as an upcoming thespian he took his father's commercial workshop in preparation for his professional career. He also recalls at the age of 10, impersonating one of his teachers and making classmates laugh hysterically, it wasn't long afterwards that he became fascinated with comedy. Soon after, he started studying Buster Keaton, Woody Allen, Charlie Chaplin and Steve Martin. He attended college at the University of California, Northridge and performed in a plethora of theatrical productions throughout his matriculation before becoming a member of the improve/sketch comedy troupe, The Groundlings in Los Angeles, where his father was actually an original member. After honing his improv skills, in 1996 he joined the SNL cast as a featured player and it wasn't long until his concise comedic timing and outlandish impersonations made him a household name.Though his last show on SNL was in 2003, he's transitioned effortlessly from television into film and you can expect to see him in several upcoming films. Be prepared to laugh uncontrollably in Foodfight, Undead or Alive: A Zomebedy and Christmas in Wonderland (all not released), but will be within the next year. When asked what advice he would give Young Hollywood hopefuls, he says, Believe in yourself and try not to take anything personally. That advice coupled with his talent has given him his edge. We, at Young Hollywood enthusiastically agree that we cannot wait to see Mr. Kattan's unreleased movies and we surely hope that he busts a couple new moves that we'll be practicing for years to come.
