When it’s the kind of night you just want to stay in and watch a movie, wouldn’t you still love to say you went to a movie screening without leaving the comfort of your couch? Thanks to Constellation and their new virtual theater exhibition technology, viewers can buy tickets for show times as if they are attending an actual theater and may even get the added bonus of participating in a live chat with a special guest during and after the movie or TV show.
Coming up tomorrow night, Channing Tatum will be hosting a virtual screening of The Eagle at 8pm EST and there’s still time to “attend” the screening. And you may want to catch Jack and Kim Johnson’s hosting of Bag It on November 20 at 8pm EST.
With Constellation’s technology, you can invite your friends to watch with you online and you can even create your show time to watch the movie when it’s convenient for you. Constellation’s CEO James Lawler and co-founder Reid Carolin wanted to give filmmakers, producers, and actors, as well as viewers, the chance to have a more personal experience and increased interaction with each other. Thanks to this technology, you can now chat with Channing Tatum from your living room!
While each showtime has limited availability, there are about a few hundred spots for users to log in. And there’s no need for theaters to worry about losing moviegoers. The virtual theater exhibition uses a method called zip code-specific geo-blocking, thus allowing for movie releases on this site the same day as theaters. This process increases awareness across the country where people may not have access to every theatrical release that comes out, especially if the movie belongs to independent distribution companies.
For more information about Constellation and to purchase your tickets to upcoming virtual movies, visit the Constellation Website and check them out on Facebook, Tumblr, and Twitter.
