Box Office Hero: Will Smith

I have no problem admitting I still watch reruns of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Come on, y'all! That was a really good show!

And there's something about vintage Will Smith. Well, there's just something about Will Smith.

He's an original.

Though he's emerged as a big time box office superstar (he's one of only three actors in the history of film to have 7 consecutive $100 million blockbusters) - keep in mind that he also made history in 1988 for winning the first ever Grammy in a rap category. Oh yes, big Willy goes way back like that.

At 39, he's probably the biggest star in the world - and somehow he seems down to earth. Relatable, charming, handsome, rich! Who could ask for anything more?

Everybody is talking about his summer blockbuster Hancock with Jason Bateman and Charlize Theron, but I'll give you two more reasons to love this guy: His dedication to his family and to the community.

With his wife Jada, he funded a new private school called the New Village Academy in Calabasas, CA, that will open in September. The curriculum will cover literacy, math, Spanish, karate, yoga, robotics, etiquette and art. The school started as the home school for his kids. Ding! Work it out, daddy.

He also co-founded the Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation to benefit inner-city community development, youth educational projects and under-privileged children and their families.

Will has made it a priority to support the community by funding charitable organizations in several cities nationwide with a focus on youth educational projects and urban family welfare.

Unlike other celebrity couples, he doesn't send out press releases to reveal every detail about their philanthropic deeds. Keep it close to the vest and play it real cool.

Now that, kids, is how you keep it classy.

Word.
