The social networking sights have been in a flurry since yesterday afternoon with none other than the Coachella lineup for 2012. If you didn’t happen to see it posted all over your Facebook newsfeed yet, here’s a roundup...
There are two full weekends this year with identical lineups, so you have two opportunities to go. This will require some extra planning, however, when it comes to the aspect of whom you’ll be caravanning with to the desert. (You can’t swap weekends post-purchase, but you CAN buy tickets to both shows.)
The Friday night shows will be headlined by the Black Keys, Saturdays by Radiohead, and Sundays will be in the hands of Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg.
Other performers include Florence + the Machine, Pulp, Mazzy Star, The Shins, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Swedish House Mafia, Frank Ocean, LA Riots, The Rapture, Afrojack, Bon Iver, David Guetta, La Roux, The Weeknd, Girl Talk, AVICII, Kaskade, and many many many more. Check out the full lineup here.
There is a complete arc of music styles, so no matter where your tastes fall, they’ll fall on something major. Feel free to be super indie and visit the most obscure shows only, or go and wave glow sticks with giant house DJs. Indio is your oyster. With five stages all being utilized concurrently, you’ll have options all day everyday. And more decisions. And, hopefully, some meeting locations to check in with your roommates, who you will probably lose track of at some point. Just saying.
Tickets go on sale Friday, and you can expect to pay somewhere around $285 for your basic weekend pass. It’s unannounced how many tickets were sold during the presale period (before the lineup was shared), but with the double weekend, we can assume more availability. Last year, tickets sold out one week after sales were open, so get your typing fingers ready and your credit card warmed up and pray the site doesn't crash.
The Coachella music festival is in Indio, CA, April 13-15 and April 20-22.
