ARTIST WATCH: Sunday Lane

Sunday Lane is a breath of fresh air in today’s music climate. With her unique voice, honest lyrics, and adorable blonde curls, I predict Sunday has nowhere to go but up. Sunday peppers her songs with soulful folk-like vocals accompanied by her classically-trained piano playing. “I think a lot of my tone has come from the artists I listen to, especially David Gray and Tegan & Sara.”

I first heard of Sunday Lane a couple years ago through my sister, who attends Pepperdine University. Sunday, who was also a student at the University, would play at the campus sandbar in front of fellow students who would listen in awe. At that time, Sunday had already released her 1st EP on iTunes, Bring Me Sunshine. To say the least, her charming singer/songwriter talent amazed me. I was intrigued by her relatable lyrics about life, love, and experience.

Multiple songs have been featured on The CW’s hit TV show "One Tree Hill", which has only helped her fan base grow, as the show is known for the featured music.

"We drive the same streets I did in high school and listen to the same music, at least when we can agree. Sometimes we try the 80's, sometimes classic rock, Sunday Lane works for all of us." - Brooke Davis, "One Tree Hill"

The show has featured "Reckless One" and "Heavy Heart, Heavy Hands" in their 9th season.

This past April, Sunday released her latest album, From Where You Are, and it was placed tenth on iTunes's Singer/Songwriter chart. This album features her single, “A Little Too Young”, which has a cute and relevant storyline. The video features a little girl who does the daily activities of an adult, including reading the news, yoga, and grocery shopping.

A little too sad to be so mad,
I’m a little too smart to be so bad,
A little too young to feel this old.

Don’t we all have those days where we try to act a lot older than we are?

I hope to hear more from Sunday Lane in the near future, either new music or an upcoming show in L.A.!
