With Barack in the White House, we can expect to see a renewed sense of diversity represented in TV and film. Of course Hollywood was way ahead of the curve, putting the first black man in office in 1998 with Deep Impact, while 24 currently has a female president (the second on television after Geena Davis). This is the stuff that goes through my brain when I watch the inauguration. So this got me thinking about the best politically themed movies out there, starting with the all-time classic: Citizen Kane - Not to overstate it or anything but this movie is also considered to be one of the best films of all time. Very deep stuff, very worth watching. A must mention, but notable lighter fare is equally entertaining, such as: Wag the Dog - A political satire about a fake war created to distract the American people; eerily as applicable today as it was when it was released Bulworth - A must see to witness Warren Beatty rapping, but his entire performance as a loose canon on the campaign trail is often LOL-able. Dave - Charming, funny and clever, very befitting of leading man Kevin Kline Air Force One - Harrison Ford's version of politics is face-punching hijackers aboard his plane, creating the first action hero president If you're not looking for laughs or explosions, I dug up a list of classics for you serious film buffs. Enjoy! Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
