For all the energy of a boy band with just one member, check out the new video for “Hello Baby” from singer Asher Monroe! He is set to release his debut solo album this year, but you might have seen him around already. The singer/dancer is also an actor, having starred in Fame, "Parenthood", and made appearances on "Zoey 101", "Medium", and "Close to Home".
While most of us were just doing mandatory class recitals in the first grade, Asher was hitting the big time casting calls. He’s been at it since the age of seven when he landed the role of Chip the Teacup in a national tour of Beauty and the Beast -- I’d like to see footage of that. After that production, he moved on to playing the lead in Oliver, and things continued from there.
His newest video is an upbeat pop track, which opens with Asher sitting dapper in a bar (which appears to only be serving beverages from the company Neuro), outfitted in a collared shirt and tie, presumably waiting for his lady. (“Hello baby where did you go / I’ve been looking for you all night”).
The rest of the video moves between Asher dancing in an alley at night, standing on some mountain tops, and flying into the atmosphere, all while sweetly singing. The back-up dancers add to the boy band feeling I get from him and with good reason -- Asher was actually in one. In 2006, he was member of V Factory, when he went by the name Asher Book. He parted ways with the group (which still remains) in 2010.
So far, he seems to be making good moves as a solo performer; the video for “Hello Baby” has reached over a million views in two weeks! Check it out for yourself below:
Asher is set to headline the 2012 DigiTour, which is a music tour comprised of self-made YouTube stars. It begins in Los Angeles March 7.
Keep up with Asher on Twitter!
