VICTORIA BECKHAM VISIT KENTUCKY SCHOOLS

Friday, 13 November 2009

Victoria Beckham and her son Brooklyn visited star-struck students at two schools in rural Kentucky earlier this week (09-10Nov09) to raise awareness of childhood poverty.

The former Spice Girl took her 10-year-old son with soccer star David Beckham to Clay County, one of the poorest counties, where they handed out shoes, books and backpacks to thrilled pupils on Monday and Tuesday (09-10Nov09).

The mum and son duo also held a soccer lesson for youngsters, and read aloud the book Duck in the Truck to a group of toddlers.

The singer-turned-fashion designer also met with school staff to disc uss the education programs set up by charity organisation Save the Children.

And the star insists it was an invaluable experience - especially for young Brooklyn, who she hopes will continue to help out underprivileged children.

She says, "Seeing Save the Children's innovative programs in action, I know that we can begin to reverse the childhood poverty crisis. I'm pleased Brooklyn is learning that by helping and joining other children he can play a role in making his generation the greatest yet.

"What I saw in Clay County was the hope and promise inherent in every child. That's why we have to make sure every single child has a fair and equal start in life."
