Vanessa Hudgens helped Selena Gomez avoid Bieber at Met Gala

Actress Vanessa Hudgens may have helped pal Selena Gomez avoid an awkward run-in with her former boyfriend Justin Bieber earlier this month (May15) after the exes both attended New York's Met Gala.

The former couple, which dated on and off from 2010, both hit the red carpet separately at the top fashion gala on 4 May (15), and it appears Hudgens was instrumental in helping her Spring Breakers co-star keep her distance from Bieber as they partied the night away.

During an appearance on talk show Watch What Happens: Live on Thursday (21May15), Hudgens addressed the situation by stating, "She's one of my best friends and you just want to have your girlfriend's back, so that's what I did. We didn't, like, try to avoid him or anything. (But) I mean, no one really wants to see your ex-boyfriend. We had a lot of fun."
