Thomas Rhett recorded new Selena Gomez duet without meeting

Country singer Thomas Rhett was "terrified" to give vocal instructions to pop star Selena Gomez for a new collaboration because they recorded the song without ever meeting in person.

The Die a Happy Man hitmaker reveals he was nervous about approaching Selena to feature on the track, but after chatting to her over the phone, he realized he had no reason to worry.

"I've only been able to talk to her over the phone, but I was blown away just how super nice and respectful (she was), because I was terrified to talk to her, especially about the song," Thomas told Rare Country. "Like, I was scared to say, 'Maybe if you try this?' to the biggest superstar that literally exists in this world and I'm just me! But yeah, she was so sweet and I can't wait to meet her someday."

However, Thomas has yet to decide if the song will feature on his next album, the follow-up to 2015's Tangled Up.

"It's possible," he shared. "Anytime the country world melts into the pop world, it's an interesting conversation. A lot of things need to go correct for it to work out. But yes, Selena did sing a song of mine. It's still sort of up in the air if it's going to actually make the record."

If Thomas does decide to release the duet, it will be good news for Selena's fans as the Come and Get It singer has yet to reveal when she plans to drop a new album following 2015's Revival.

She recently released the single Bad Liar, the second piece of new material this year (17) following her Kygo collaboration It Ain't Me.
