The Jacksons working on first new album in 25 years
The existing members of the Jackson 5 are working on their first new album in 25 years.
Michael Jackson's brothers Jermaine, Marlon, Jackie and Tito reunited as The Jacksons in 2012 to embark on their first tour in almost three decades, and they are currently gearing up to kick off a residency in Las Vegas next week (20Feb14).
Now Jackie reveals fans will have even more to look forward to as
they have been busy in the studio working on the follow-up to
1989's 2300 Jackson Street.
He tells Billboard.com, "I'm so happy all the brothers will be
together in Las Vegas. During the day time they can finish
recording and then do the shows during the evening time."
The veteran singer claims they have completed "quite a bit" of the
project and he cannot wait for fans to hear the results.
He adds, "It sounds like (old) Jacksons music, with today's sounds.
People still want to hear that Jackson 5 harmony; we can't get away
from where we came from. That's what they want to hear. But there's
a lot of new flavors we can combine that with."
And he insists the world still loves the Jacksons' signature soul
sound: "Something like Bruno Mars' Treasure, that's like an old
Jacksons song. When I first heard that song I said, 'That could
have been on one of ours!'"
