His lawyers appealed the ruling and claimed Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler had helped to sway jurors by allowing prosecutors to use images of him pointing out blood splatter evidence as he spoke to a forensic witness.

The challenge was dismissed and Spector's conviction was upheld, but his attorneys filed another request in the California Court of Appeals for reconsideration last week (18May11).

However, court officials are refusing to listen to Spector's defence team again and denied the bid on Thursday (26May11), insisting there was overwhelming evidence of his guilt.
