Rob Kardashian credits Blac Chyna for reversing diabetes diagnosis
Rob Kardashian credited fiancee Blac Chyna for reversing his Type 2 Diabetes diagnosis.
The 29-year-old reality star has turned his life around after finding romance with Chyna, a former exotic dancer and model who has a child with rapper Tyga, Rob's sister Kylie Jenner's boyfriend.
As well as becoming a recluse, Rob suffered from a variety of
health issues - the most debilitating of which was when he was told
he had diabetes.
Rob was prescribed the drug insulin to manage the illness, but
stopped taking it for six months, leading to his hospitalisation
last December (15).
It was when he got out of the hospital that Rob realised his life
needed to change, and Chyna, 28, was more than happy to step in and
help her beau.
"It was a big-time scare. I had found out I had Type 2 diabetes six
months before but I stopped taking my insulin," he told People
magazine. "I didn't enjoy the routine. So I ended up nonstop
throwing up, and I couldn't even swallow because my mouth was dry.
I felt like I was going to die. When I got out of the hospital, I
knew I knew I needed to make changes.
"Chyna and I had a really big talk and and she told me that by
having her cook for me, my diabetes would be gone. And it is."
Chyna put Rob on a strict exercise and diet regime, leading to the
Keeping Up With The Kardashians star losing 30lbs quickly. However,
he then regained 20lbs and now weighs in at 285lbs but admits the
fact that Chyna is now pregnant with their first child and eating
whatever she wants is making it difficult for him to stick to his
diet.
"I am in that uncomfortable state again. I weigh 285lbs now. I've
got to get back into the routine. But it's hard because she's
pregnant and eats whatever she wants, and I enjoy eating with her."
But he has no plans to stay uncomfortable.
"Right now 210lbs is my goal," he added.
While Type 1 Diabetes is widely considered to have a genetic factor
behind it, Type 2 Diabetes is often associated with being
overweight. Losing weight can be an effective way of managing Type
2 Diabetes and can, in some situations, reverse the diagnosis.
Now Rob claims he no longer has the condition, he is likely to have
stopped the tablets and injections he may have been having to
manage his diabetes.
