Rihanna was left bloodied and in agony during a tour stop in Auckland, New Zealand this week (begs07Oct13) after opting to get a new tattoo chiselled into her hand in the traditional Maori way.
The Umbrella hitmaker, who is known for her love of skin art, had the experience filmed as Moko Ink studio artist Inia Taylor and local musician Tiki Taane used a mallet, chisel and ink pigment to create the traditional Ta Moko design, which featured elaborate lines and symbols running from her fingernails all the way down to her right forearm.
In the two-minute clip, posted on Taane's YouTube.com page, Rihanna is seen gritting her teeth and covering her mouth with her left hand, while she attempts to laugh through the pain. At one point, she is asked to wipe away the blood from her hand so the tattooists can continue with the design.
Rihanna wrapped up a three-night residency at the city's Auckland Vector Arena on Tuesday (08Oct13), before jetting off to South Africa for the next leg of her Diamonds World Tour.
